I'm located in Oregon. But that is exactly what I purchased this modem to do. Unplugged the comcast modem, replaced it with this modem, called comcast gave a representative the MAC address from the label on the modem, and returned the old one. Now no more $7 lease fee. Hope this helps.

This modem is a standard modem for COMCAST customers. I do not believe AT&T Uses this hardware for their connection. Contact your local AT&T office to find out what brands, models, and types of modem will be appropriate for your package. It is important to get the right one.

If you receive internet service through AT&T DSL, then this will NOT work for you. Cable Modems are used for cable TV type providers. You're looking for a "DSL Modem".

This unit is a "cable" modem, and you need a cable service provider in order for it to work.

If you don't want to own a cable modem, you can rent a unit from your service provider, for a nominal monthly charge.
