Are the bevel gears in the Skil 9295-01 Angle Grinder metal or plastic?

I've had two angle grinders. One had metal bevel gears and lasted for years. The other had a plastic smaller bevel gear. It lasted about half an hour. Grinders generate a lot of heat, especially cutting metal. A plastic gear will not hold up to the heat generated.

Not recommended to cut wood due to the very high speed. The wood WILL burn if you try this.

Thank you for your question. The Skil 9295 grinder is not designed to cut wood, in order to cut wood you would need a toothed blade and we do not make these blades for the grinders. We do offer circular saws, jigsaws or table saws that are designed for cutting wood.

Thank you for your question. The 9295 grinder is designed for metal grinding applications. If the desk is metal this would work, however if you have a wood desk we would recommend using a sander for refinishing.
