18/10 grade stainless steel is the highest quality you can get for cookware. It is 18 percent chromium and 10 percent nickel. It resists rust, stains, and pitting better than lesser grades of stainless steel. It is also very shiny and attractive, if this is important to you. There are also 18/8 amd 18/0 sets out there. They're not as good. The higher the numbers, the better. If you browse the selections, you will see that many 18/10 sets sell for $200-$300 or more. That is why this set is such an outstanding buy. It is not a big set, but I believe it includes all the pieces most people need.
