The back wheels are fixed, and they are hard to turn, which makes the walker practically inoperable for that purpose.

Mine is Six months. She barely reaches the floor with her toes. I guess when they can sit up with support good. It is also helping build up her muscles so she sit up by herself. I don't leave her in it more then 5-10 minutes since she can't touch the floor good and I don't know if her legs go numb. But she loves it because she's sitting up and not laying back.

I put mine in starting at 3 months, but could have done earlier...it really depends on your baby and how well he or she sits with (or without, as time goes by) assistance

For this walker the baby would have to have a good amount of leg strength. Most babies start off in walkers pushing backwards. Well the wheels in the back are locked to a foward position. So it does not move very freely. However you can lock the activity center in place and it becomes stationary for younger babies. In general you can put an infant in a walker when he/she can hold his head up very well and his feet touch the ground.
