No charging necessary. Takes batteries and they last up to 2 years

Hi adriana, thank you for your question. The intercom sets we manufacture are not chargeable. These systems run off of 8 AA batteries.

It does not appear to be strong enough to through any walls, let alone cement walls.

Thank you for your question. The Chamberlain Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Portable Intercom may communicate through cement walls. It depends on the material used in the cement (rebar. etc..) If you have a cordless phone on 900Mhz I would see if the phone will work through the wall. If it does, the intercom should also.

Mine came with 2 in the box. You have to have 2. There is no receiver. They are like a walkie talkie.

I think it comes with two of the handhelds (only one shown in picture).I don't know about a base. The model number is NTD2 which on other sites is 2 units, otherwise who or what could you communicate with? Walmart should make this clear.

These Intercoms and Doorbells form a secure network on a 900Mhz frequency and will respond only to other devices programmed into the network.
