It has a standard 110 volt cord. It does put out alot of heat. Great for removing labels, stickers, etc.

It plugs into the wall. The cord is somewhat short, I recommend getting a 3-prong (grounded) extension cord with the heat-gun.

The heat gun draws 1000 watts, which is 8.33 amps at 120 volts. the
only way it could be battery operated would be from a large 12-volt
battery with a 1000-watt inverter to convert the battery dc voltage to 120 volts a-c.

The HT1000 could certainly be used, carefully, with crafting or embossing projects. Please note that it does heat up to 750 or 1000 degrees, so caution needs to be taken.
