No. The handle bars are cheep. I replaced mine with something better. Remember, this is a low cost entry into the 29" platform. The rear hub assembly was defective on the bike I purchased and as the bike coasted the chain would bunch up and the freewheel would stop spinning freely and maid a jamming noise. Beyond this the bike is okay except the gears, sprockets and bearings seem to be cheeply made have some play and don't seem to be up to minimum quality standards. Not recommended, but you make the call.

You only get one frame size and that is 17.5 inches. If you are less than 5 foot 6 inches, this bike may be hard to ride.

@clockwork420: your right man, the frame size is 17", & 20'' is just my quick guestimate. what I did is , I just stood on the frame with my feet flat, and its very similar to the 20"Large size Giant boulder w/ 26" wheels , & little bit larger than my 18" Diamondback recoil comp w/ 26" wheels also, but hey its a 29er, w/ bigger wheels, that's why it makes me think its Large 20" frame. So can I say 17" Large? lol!!! have a great ride!!!!

The frame is size 20" LARGE. I just compare it to my 2010 Diamondback Recoil Comp size 18" MEDIUM, and my 29er deception is 2" larger, so I would say its LARGE 20".

Spring loaded suspension, not REAL shocks w/ oil / air/ lock out. It says right on the fork " No jumping, or rough ridding" I had to get my glasses to read the fine print on the sticker, but it is there on the back of the lower fork. Real shock prices start @$200+. That being said the spring fork is alot better than ridged w/ roots, holes and rocks. At my age I am not doing any ruff riding.

Take the front wheel off and go to your local bike shop and tell them you need a spoke wrench. My shop would true mine for $15 a wheel but the wrench is $7 and you will need it if you ride off road on the bike a lot.

Its simple to true a wheel and usually takes about 20 minutes per wheel.

Take it to your LBS and have the wheels adjusted and tuned in general. Should be $30 or less for a tune up.

Like I said in my overall review, go to your local bike store and have it professionaly put together. Cost you an extra 50 but worth it. You can ride it but I would advise you to take care of it asap.

My wheels were untrue but after riding it for about 10 mi it is way closer to true. I had to tune it when I got it. I wanted to break it in (stretch the cables, etc) before taking it to a local bike shop for a pro tune. I was going to show my friend how out of true was and it was way better. I was judging by the gap between the front derailleur and the tire the wobble could have been in the tire.

Gears are twist and work very well. However, the bike I purchased had a defective rear hub assembly which caused the chain to bunch up while coasting. Gears, sprockets and bearings seem to be low standard or sub standard quality. Beyond this the bike is okay. I replace the seat and handlebars on mine. Good luck.

It turns out that 29" tires are wide versions of the metric 700c tires typically found on road bikes. The tires on my Deception are labeled as 29x1.95, 700x50c. I'm thinking of putting some smooth road tires on and will be looking for some 700x45c or maybe 32c if I find some cheap used ones to try out.

Hit your local bike shop and be sure to bring the bank. If you want you can buy the hubs, rims, and spokes then lace it up yourself which is really easy to do.

The rims are pretty good on the bike as it comes but you might would want to up grade the hubs to a good set with sealed bearings.
