Can I put a single, 27 x 40 poster in the frame or do I have to put smaller pictures in it?

I have a few movie posters I want to put up, but I've had a hard time finding reasonably priced frames. If this can take a single, 27 x 40 poster, I will be quite happy.

We used ours for 27 x 40 movie posters and they worked great. They are not high quality frames, but for $20 they work just fine. We actually pained ours to match our trip and they look pretty nice.

That's exactly what I used mine for. It does come with matting to use for smaller pictures if that's what you want to use it for, but it's the perfect size for a movie poster.

I have a few of these frames, and the instructions say to remove the protective film from the back of the plastic sheet. I dont see any protective film...is it just me or do they not have any protective film?

They used to; but I have purchased several remembering I used to remove the film, but if it is there I do not see it, and I've tried at the edges; and nothing unpeels as it did several years ago. I think it’s an example of cost-cutting to leave it off, since the entire poster is now covered, with cardboard on the corners.

No there is no protective film. I purchased some custom units recently and the film they used is blue. There is no question about those so I assume that, since there was no color to this plastic the specification must have changed to omit the film.

It arrived in one piece, that is why it can be damaged easily during shipment. I'd recommend having it shipped to your local store. Perfect for the standard 27X40 movie posters.

Yes, it's cardboard and comes completely out. Bear in mind, it is EXTREMELY flimsy and there is no cross-bar in the back to apply additional pressure so if you did the collage thing, then you would probably need double sided tape or something similar. It does not require assembly, just really careful handling.

It comes as a single unit just as you see in the pic, you take apart the frame from the rear and place your poster in place, OR if you're filling in a collage you can place your pics into each square and put in place.

By mat I hope you mean the cardboard section having cutouts for your pictures. you can either take it out completely, or just feed in what you want in front of it like I did (that way you don't have any slack).

Everything is removable. It's comes whole, but you can break it down piece by piece (including the outside frame). Also, when you put it back together it still looks good. I would recommend it, especially for it's price.

Look at my picture. There are 3 - 5x7, 8 - 4x6, abt 12 valet size, 6 - 3x5 and the rest is weird square size non-standard sizes for you to cut to fit.

Yes, you can likely replace the collage mat with another thickness mat. In addition to the collage mat (which is very thin), there is cardboard backing to hold things in place. If your mat was think enough, you likely wouldn't need that cardboard backing.

I think so, as long as you don't go too thick, it has fold-over tabs on the back side to hold it in place, so the bit of extra thickness shouldn't hurt it.

Walmart has the cheapest prices for this size frame, so I would just buy this product and remove the pieces you don't want. We use them for movie posters, so we take out the photo matting that it comes with. Very simple to do.
