This is definately not worth buying. I did not check reviews before I purchased because I have a Vizio tv that I love and just decided to give this a try. After my issues with the dvd I decided to check the reviews to see if it was common and the issues seem to be very common on this dvd. I returned for the LG BD550. Was only a little more money and seems much better so far. Only played a few movies so far though but no freezes and load times are much better.

Do NOT buy this player. We had nothing but problems with it, and after reading the reviews, it was obvious we were not the only people who had problems with it. Spend the extra 30 bucks and get a different model, I would recommend the Sony!

I bought it because of the price. After purchasing it, I noticed that when I put a dvd in, the screen would have "digital lines" across it. I thought maybe it was the dvd, which I had just bought it as well, so I put in another new dvd that I had. It did the same thing. I returned it the next day and bought the LG blue ray that was 138. After plugging it in and putting the same new dvds in this one, I have not had any problems with lines showing across the screen. So I don't know if I also got a "defective" one but i say just get the next one up because this vizo one didn't work for me. And also save your mother the trip of returning it as well.

I've owned several Vizio products and have been very happy with the quality. The person that had a problem might have had a defective unit. But that happens with all brands of electronics that there are a few bad products out of the thousands that are made. I would still buy this product and plan to buy another of the same for the bedroom.

My understanding...
A blu-ray player won't make a dvd look as good as a blu-ray disc, however it will up convert from the 720 dvd format to 1080p format. A dvd will look better on a blu-ray player just not as good as a blu-ray movie.

answer 11
No, there is much less information stored on a DVD than Blue-Ray. I know there are tricks of "upscaling" and other marketing terms, but they are making up information to fill in the blanks.

However, if your TV is less than 40" diagonal, you might not be able to tell the difference. It takes 1080P to really get all the information from the player to the screen too.

This happens ALL THE TIME on my player. Simply unplug the player from the wall and allow it to reconnect to the internet if needed.

Netflix is VERY temperamental on this player if you have just watched a DVD on it (I recommend always removing the disk so that it doesn't get stuck with this temperamental player, and to unplug the device if you have finished a DVD and wish to use the apps afterward)

You need Netgear Universal Wireless Internet adapter. Very easy to setup with no software to install. It converts a wifi or wireless internet signal into an ethernet jack. then you connect the ethernet wire to your device. After the initial setup you can use this adapter with Internet TV's Bluray players, Videogame machines, and of course Desktop computers. Walmart sales it in the electronics dept.
