Question
Is this going to be available 11-30-2010, or 12-31-2010? because the date for November would coinside with Blizzard's usual releases on Tuesday.
And Decembers would not!

Beta is now in full swing and blizzard has already released all patches save one that leads to events before cataclysm. patch 4.0 should be coming in the coming weeks as the downloader is already dowloading background files. Looks like the release date will be nov 2. this is also speculated on the site mmo-champions.com. it could get pushed back but a november release is likely at this point.

Walmart.com uses a release date of 12-31-10 as a mode of inticing folks to place preorders now. You'll find that its a common tactic with retailers to do this.
Blizzard Entertainment has yet to confirm a solid release date for this game. I assure you, Walmart.com will update that release date as soon as Blizzard makes it public.
The release date hasnt been announced yet... and tbc came out in january...even though it was delayed it still came out in january. Beta isnt even close yet, id be surprised if it came out in november.
I pre-ordered this online and later a friend pointed out the bold writing of "The special Collector's Edition package, which will only be available at retail stores". I emailed customer service about this and was assured that I will be receiving the collectors edition. Was I misled?

I'd like to update my prior answer to more accurately reflect a current change to this item.
Walmart.com has removed the "availably exclusively in retail stores" note from this item's description. This leads me to believe that your online preorder with Walmart.com for the Cataclysm Collector's Edition should have no trouble arriving at your door.
Releasing the product online or in store makes no bearing on anything being mislead. This product on this page is the collector's edition. The pricing and contents and cover art indicate as such.
Furthermore, if a corporation such as Walmart lists a product you will receive that product if you've purchased it. No matter the amount of orders, company's such as this have resources to procure these assets. Good luck in WOW :)..

Im pretty sure the CE is only available in stores. Its prolly on the website to show people what the contents of the CE are. If you are wanting to make sure you get a CE then id make sure you just show up at your local WalMart Early. i showed up like 6 hours early for WOTLK and i was first in line but people started lining up after me like not even 5 minuites later.

Here's a problem that occurs every single time Blizzard releases one of these Collector's Editions for WoW: the quantity released is almost always so minute that it doesn't satisfy the pre-orders that were placed. Demand for these things is huge, my friend. Both expansion cycles have thus far left MANY customers holding the bag with their online preorders for CEs and I'd truly like to see you avoid this fate.
I could be entirely wrong on this and Blizzard could have millions of these CEs ready to go for release day, but I seriously doubt the realism of that. Normally, the number doesn't exceed 80,000 or so. Held up against the number of WoW players who will preorder this in-stores and online...you can see where the potential for a problem exists. This edition of the game is meant to be very rare.
The only suggestion I can offer to you that will virtually guarantee you a Collector's Edition, is to get yourself to a midnight release. We'd love for you to continue to shop with us at Walmart, so I'd suggest you call your nearest Walmart store as the release date approaches to confirm that 1.) they will be releasing the game at midnight if they aren't already a 24-hour store and 2.) they have stock of the Collector's Edition.
Again, I could be totally wrong and Walmart.com could have hundreds of these CEs ready to go for the launch of the expansion...in which case, your preorder will square you away perfectly. By the same token, I don't think Walmart.com would have put that disclaimer about exclusive in-store availability on the CE if it wasn't extremely likely to be true.
I'd like very much to see you get yourself a CE, and being in-store on release night is the only way I know of to unequivocally guarantee that.
Can I preorder this at the store and pick it up at midnight on release day?

Short answer is no, pre orders are online only and the item will be sent to the address given, or sent site to store however you will not have it at midnight

Unfortunately, Walmart stores do not accept preorders. Any preorders we receive through Walmart.com will see the game shipped via mail to your door.
My best suggestion to you would be to call your nearest Walmart as the release date approaches and confirm that they will be participating in the midnight release of Cataclysm.
No. The pre-order only works with online products. They will send you a copy of the game through the mail which should reach you on the day said game is released.
In store pre-orders is a thing of the past at wal-mart from what i've seen.
I recently purchased the CE version of Cataclysm off Amazon only to be told that it was sold out AFTER I purchased it. So I was refunded and saw that Walmart takes online preorders and offers Release Date Delivery. I already ordered and paid full price, so am I guaranteed a copy of the CE version on the date of release?

If Walmart.com ended up taking too many preorders for the CE, the same situation will occur...you will receive an apologetic email and you'll be refunded.
Its hard to say that you'll be "guaranteed" one, to be honest. Blizzard doesn't release all that many of these and Walmart.com has been accepting preorders on this item since Blizzard revealed the box art. If Walmart.com hasn't taken too many preorders, you'll be getting one for sure.
If I were you and really wanted a CE I'd pre order from Walmart. Worst case is that Walmart refunds your money and you don't get a copy. I do think if you pre order you do get a copy, sounds like Amazon may have had a rush and just took to many pre orders. I got my wrath CE from Amazon but they had sold out by the time I could order for cata. Something else to think about last xpac Amazon sold out on pre orders then got more CE back in stock for pre orders (which was when I ordered mine.) So you could take that risk and hope Amazon gets more copies or I you can wait until release and hope you get lucky. Either way ordering from good ol' wally world can't really hurt anything but the pocket book imo.
Best of luck!

The game will include a disc's for both PC and MAC, however you should note this. Once Cataclysm is released World of Warcraft will no longer be supported on any MAC with a PowerPC processor. So if you have a PowerPC processor i would suggest getting a new system asap if u want to continue to play.
By PC/MAC they mean Windows and Mac. Blizzard puts the game content for both PC and Mac on the same disc. This give the buyer the option to install it on a Mac and then reinstall it on a PC later, or vice-a-versa should they choose to switch operating systems.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm's Special Collector's Edition will only be available for purchase at your nearest Walmart in-store. Blizzard limits these Collector's Editions to an extremely small initial run...and then that's it! Therefore, online preorders are generally a risky enterprise.
I'd recommend getting to the store early! If the Wrath release is any indication, supplies of this Collector's Edition will be extremely limited (if we receive any at all) and given out on a first-come-first-served basis.
If you live near a 24-hour Walmart, you can pick the game up then. If your local Walmart is not a 24-hour store, then it might be prudent to call ahead to the store to verify 1.) that they'll be hosting a midnight release and 2.) that they have supply of the Collector's Edition.
This is probably the best advice I can give to you, DJxx, if you truly have your heart set on obtaining one of these Collector's Editions. Best of luck to you!

Unfortunately, Walmart stores are not accepting preorders in store for the Cataclysm Collector's Edition. Also, we do not offer in-store pickup on preorders placed through Walmart.com outside of our Site-To-Store program.
I have never pre-ordered before. When I place the order is the money emediately taken or is it taken when shipped?

They will initially put a hold for the amount on your card to verify funds. After that it will fall off in a certain amount of time. They will actually charge you the amount in full when the item ships.

The entire amount, plus applicable taxes and shipping costs will be taken at the time of purchase. Walmart will then its absolute darndest to ensure that you receive your copy by the time Blizzard launches the game.
Is this a release date delivery item as others have mentioned? It appears to state here that it ships on the release date 12/7 and when going through order confirmation offers dlv date of 12/15. Can it be confimed if this ships on 12/7 or delivers on 12/7? I'm not sure who would order this type of product and be willing to wait over a week for it to arrive.
