what does cyclonic mean as to how the machine performes

answer 1
The brush roller has a belt. The cyclonic action has to do with keeping the dirt going into the machine from packing together or clumping (keeps airflow in there)...so you get better suction and more efficient cleaning.

Amy... my best guess is that it refers to the power of the unit. I was very impressed with the power, ease and light weight of the unit when I used it for the first time. I had borrowed my sister's because my old vacuum had conked out.... when I used her Nano, her unit cleaned my carpets better then my old unit had done for months, and to empty it was just a matter of a push of a button. I was very impressed. I will purchasing my own Nano in a few days.

Yes, its got a powerful suction on it. More than the average vacuum.

answer 2
I don't have powder in a bathroom carpet that needs to be vacuumed, but I would imagine that it would. The suction really is that good! If it didn't come out using the carpet mode, using the hose attachment would probably get it out.

Yes, sucks up everything including the mud that dried up that turned it to dust. It has so much suction power

answer 4
Because of the power the Nano has.... I think if you have small area bathroom rugs, you will find that the Nano will cause a problem as any vacuum would. If your bathroom carpet is not a throw rug type, I think you will be pleased with the performance of this unit. I would think using on small area rugs may not be best use of this unit's efficiency because of the power of suction.

The vacuum wouldn't pick up dirt or dog hair for me at all so I don't think it will pick up powder.

Depending on whether it's carpet or a bathmat/rug it should still pick up fine. If it is a bathroom rug then you may want to use the hose and attachments on them. Hope this helps.

Hi Tessa. The Nano won't go completely flat but it does go back about 110 degrees. You may want to take a look at our Air™: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Hoover-Windtunnel-Air-Multi-Cyclonic-Bagless-Upright-Vacuum-UH70400/14237595 or Air™ Steerable: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Hoover-Bagless-WindTunnel-Air-Steerable-Upright-Vacuum-UH72400/22904051. Their main handles go pretty flat and are great and cleaning under the bed. Hope this helps,

It goes fairly flat, but won't go all the way under the average bed. The hose attachment is so easy, however, that it's a simple matter to just switch and use that for going 'way under the bed.

Question

The description states that the cord is 20", but it is actually 20 feet.

It would be impossible to vacuum anything with a corded vacuum that had a 20 inch cord. The actual length of the vacuum cord is 20 feet. Think about it. 20 inches is less than two feet.

Question

What filters/belts, etc.. does this vacuum use?

What filters/belts, etc.. does this vacuum use? It seems like this should be listed under the specs but I couldn't find it. With some of the vacuums I've looked at lately, the cost of these items has been extremely expensive - to the point that I could almost purchase an entire new vacuum completely. Just seems like that's the racket now - accessories needed for a product are ridiculously priced because they know you have to have them - so I'm pricing them ahead of time to be sure. Thanks for any help anyone is able to provide!

I went to my local vacuum store and had them order the part. Hoover belt 562633001. It was under $10, as I recall. Then, I realized I didn't need it, as the hardwood floor button had been pushed down, which releases the belt from spinning. Good luck

I dont know about the belts but the filters are washable and super easy to get too. I have used the previous version of this model and it lasted about 2 or 3 years before it slowly looses suction power and I upgraded to this one. Its still better than most the other vacuums I have used in the past. Far better..

There is a filter inside of the dust container (Part Number-304219001), also one just below the container (Part Number-562651001). Not certain how to change the belt (Part Number-562633001). All of these can be found at Hoover's website.

If you have the owners manual look on page 11. If not unplug the vacuum, place on floor flat with nozzle base facing up. Remove the 5 screws. Pull & lift the guard off. Remove the brushroller. Remove old belt and replace with new belt. Slide the new belt onto the motor shaft, the new belt should be on the area of the brushroller without bristles. With the new belt in place pull & slide the brushroll into the nozzle making sure that the endcaps are in proper alignment, rotate the brushroll to assure that the belt is aligned. Reattach nozzle guard using the 5 screws you set aside only after the tabs and slots on vacuum and nozzle guard are in place.

It explains in the owners manual how to replace the belt. You have to turn the vacuum cleaner over, take out five screws to remove the plate covering the brushroll and belt. Be prepared to get frustrated because it's very difficult to tuck the belt back around the motorshaft.

answer 3
really easy. Remove the plate on the top of the blue base, near the button that says hardwood floors, so you can get to where the belt winds around a little metal finger piece. Slip the belt off and then remove the roller by lifting it straight out, which will release the belt completely. Replace new belt and reassemble

Pull up the user manual online. Just a tip - don't sprinkle your carpet with carpet freshener granules. After just 4 months this vacuum got clogged up and there was no suction. I tried taking it apart 4 times to get the white powder out, but it never worked right again. I had to by a another vacuum.

Call the customer service number on the manual that came with the vacuum--they should be able to tell you how to change it. If you didn't get one or cant' find your manual just google "Hoover Customer service" and you should be able to find a #)

I believe amps doesn't necessarily correlate to suction power/cleaning quality. Amps is a measure of how much electricity/power is used by the unit...so although 12 amps uses more power, the 10 amps may clean just as well if not better than the 12 amps depending on how efficiently the cleaning unit is engineered.
