No you do not. Wireless Lan is the same wireless that is used in a laptop. The specs on the Magnavox site are clear that all you need is the router you use to connect you computer to the internet. Your Blu Ray should be able to connect to it or if you're wired, you would connect with a wire.

It looks like this is Wi-Fi which means it will connect to your wireless network and you can watch Netflix moves on that TV that it is connected to.
It you want this device to stream movies to more than 1 TV then you would have to buy an adaptor to connect to a LAN (Local Area Network). This is my guess.Click on the Learn More button and it will take you to the full description.

NETFLIX? YES/NO, I'm confused

So the website description says NETFLIX is included. But the manufacture doesn't say it is. Which is it? This is a huge factor for a lot of people probably. I want to pick this up for Black Friday, but it would be a waste if it doesn't stream netflix. Anyone (an associate) know exactly.

I spoke with a Magnavox rep this morning (11/26) after hooking up the unit (MBP5120F/F7) and not being able to access Netflix. They had been trained on the "Misprint" in the Walmart ad, and this unit definitely does NOT support Netflix. I was told that the MBP5130 (next model up) does, but the MBP5120 definitely does not. I believe it's technically possible for Walmart / Magnavox to work out a firmware update to add Netflix support, but who knows if that will happen. I've already written Walmart requesting some help on this, but I expect they will just tell me to return the unit for a refund :(

It's about to hit the fan with this model and WalMart. I just talked to a Magnavox associate and she said she's been bombarded with the Netflix question with this model -- and the answer is IT DOES NOT HAVE NETFLIX, THE 5130 MODEL DOES. So I'm off to return this pretty angrily, as well.

NO NETFLIX. I am jaded a bit, but after 3 hours I have learned a lot. First, this model has new firmware that neeeds to be downloaded, burned to CD and loaded to the Disk player. I didn't do this as I went the manual route. Magnavox was useless the first 2 calls. My Router Co, Belkin was awesome and talked me theotruhg the whol manula set up of the DVD player through Wi-Fi since I was unaware of the softweare upgrade. After finally getting to the internet, I can;t figure out how to get to netflix. This call #3 to magnavox. The 5120 model absolutely does not support Netflix reguardless of all the people who assume internet access means netflix will work in this thread. Magnavox says no, just VudU, no netflix. You need a magnaviox 5130 to stream netflix. So I fought the crowds for 2 iof these thngs at 5AM and now I have to fight the Customer Service Line to return both!

I went to Wal Mart today, almost bought this. But nowhere on the box does it list Netflix as a service. The only thing it lists is Vudu. So, before I bought, I called Netflix, and talked to a rep. I gave her the model number, and she replied that this model is NOT Netflix ready. The MBP 5130 is Netflix ready, but it goes for $118.00, has built in Wireless, but is NOT on the Black Friday list.

You need to be more careful with BLU-RAY Players than you did with DVD players.

Some only connect with a wire (long one if your router is not near the player) others are only Wireless READY... a $40-60 adapter is needed and lastly.... there are the Wireless models that are ready to go (usually cost more because the adapter is already attached.

I just bought at Walmart the 5130 (Thirty) model with built in wireless adapter and it connects to NETFLIX, BLOCKBUSTER, and VUDU only. (Netflix works Awesome by the way). But it does NOT go to Youtube, Pandora, Facebook, Etc.... even though it connects to the internet wireless.

I had another Blu-Ray player and I had to go to FRY's electronics to buy a 20 foot ethernet cable that stretched across the bedroom. (Wife did not like it) but that model did connect to YouTube, and others but IT DID NOT DO NETFLIX!!! I think it was the 5120F model they sell at Walmart and that is why I got the 5130 instead.

So.... I just wanted to clarify for someone who is going to buy a Blu-Ray player. CHECK THE BOX not the store's website for the Websites the player can access. Also, just because they connect to the internet they are not web browsers!!! They only connect with certain web services that the manufacturer has a contract with and you can NOT program your own sites (You may be able to on the $300+ expensive players but I do not have the CASH to TEST IT)

Hope I was helpful and Good Luck with your shopping. Happy Holidays

I am actually glad you asked this, since I was considering purchasing one. So I looked up the owners manual online, and I am afraid to say that the only thing it supports is VUDU. There's not even any way to configure Netflix on it, and the entire network setup part of the manual is devoted to VUDU. So i'd stay away from this one and go with something that is known to work.

No. Had the same question (hoped that it would play DIVX files, but it doesn't). It will play JPEG image files though. It will also stream video files from optional pay VUDU service (Google it) if you have a good high internet speed connection. For more info, here's the user manual from the manufacturer:
