Question

Length

The length of the TV which the spec says 51 inches seems pretty extra long for a 42 inch tv. Most 42 inch TV's are about 40-42 inches long lengthwise. Is the 51 inch length accurate for the length of the TV or is that the length of the box?

From what I understand they both have their advantages. Pro for plasma are more affordable and deeper darker colors. Pro for lcd are slightly lower energy consumption(though led-lcd is more efficient) Other than that any other difference is overly exaggerated on both ends.

lcds are better than plasma. plasma usually fall off. Getting Emerson 42" on black friday eager to get it

answer 3
LCD's usually have a better picture because they have more pixels that a plasma of the same size has. LCD's are usually lighter in weight. From what I understand, plasma's usually die a lot quicker than LCD's. But if you notice, most Plasma's of the same brand and same size as the LCD, plasma's are cheaper, which i'm assuming means LCD is better if you're paying a little more. I have 2 LCD's now and I have never had a problem with them. I'm planning on that 42" Emerson on black friday, cant wait! If you want more information, just look online type in google "plasma vs LCD" there is a lot more info you can find out on the subject.

The television has a VGA input as well as HDMI inputs. Depending on the video card in your PC you can use either connector to use it as a monitor. VGA is the Blue rectangular plug that has been used for years for PC monitors and HDMI is a small black cable that looks like an oversized USB cable.

answer 3
Yes you can, if your computer has a VGA hookup(the blue colored hook up you plug in from your tower to your current monitor) or through HDMI hookup if your computer has it. S-video also works but I dont know if this tv has it.
