You have to buy a new version each year - new tax laws, new forms, etc.

answer 2
They say you have to buy a new one each year, I have never tried to use an old one just because so many things change from year to year. But if you keep track of what you spent on the previous years Turbo Tax and any expenses for E-filing you can deduct them. It gives you that option in the deductions.

You have to pay to efile the state ($19.95, I believe). You can print the state return for free if you want to paper file.

YES it does but - a little misleading - once it calculates the state tax refund - it charges you 19.99 to file electronically.... bummer -- huh

Yes but it will cost you around $19 or so to do that. I just used my print off to do it online at the state website since I already had the right numbers.

As I understand it, you have a maximum of 5 returns. I've already done 2 this year and am about to start a third. All must be filing in the same state if you are going to file state returns.

answer 2
Yes you will only have to buy one TT CD. You will be able E-File 5 Federal returns for free, but will have to pay $20 to E-File each State return. But, you can print out and mail each State Return for free.

If I understand your question, it sounds like you want to create and file multiple returns to be filed with the same state. This version does let you do that, although you do need to pay to efile the state -- the Federal efile is included in the price. You can print the state return and mail it for no additional fee. You cannot use this version to file to more than one state, but you can file multiple returns to a single state.

answer 3
You can only download ONE FREE state file when you buy the Deluxe w/ State edition. Additional states will cost extra. You can E-File 5 federal returns for free, but to E-File the state, it will cost you $20 for each state E-File, which can be more than one. You can print and mail the state for free as well.

You may want to go with the Deluxe edition with State if you plan on filing a state return. I've only used the Deluxe edition, so I can only comment about that one. The Deluxe will automatically select which forms to file (1040 vs 1040EZ) depending on what deductions you have. You can enter as many W-2's, 1099-INT/R/G/misc/est as you need to. Same with 1098-E, and other deductions that TT will ask questions about. The Deluxe will also select the appropriate state form as well.

I use the Turbo Delexe Federal + State and it has most of that, W2 and 1099's, plus many other deductions to check out or donations too. Covers most of what you will have without going into the business one.
