Yes. I just plugged it in to my win 7 64bit and it showed up as a removable disk with a card inserted. does not show up without a card.

It is part of it- not a cord, but does not retract.

It's a separate cord, but it's not really necessary, since the reader plugs easily into the side-mounted USB ports on my laptop.

The USB cord is a separate extention cord. The unit can plug directly into a laptop USB port or you can use the extention cable to make it easier to plug in the memory cards.

Yes, I use it to upload pictures from my 4 GB card all of the time. I'm fairly certain it will read any SD card, regardless of the memory capacity.
