it dependes, but i tried and it didn't work for me after talking with eight different atnt employees on the phone, then three workers at the store for two weeks, then i decided to switch my account to prepaid and now i am just fine.

YES!!! I did just that myself. My AT&T Blackberry trackball was missing, and we bought this phone to use while we waited for the parts. Just slipped in the sim-card and good to go. It for some reason, however, did NOT allow me to access my contacts. I am not sure if that is because I did not properly copy them given I had no trackball on my broken phone, of if it's a glitch in this very bare-bones phone itself. But I received calls and texts without issue. Hth!

This phone will accept any go phone or ATT simm card. But they are not interchangeable. If you want to use the phone as an ATT phone, put an ATT SIMM card in it. If you want to use it as a GO PHONE, put a go phone simm in it.

You can. I bought one for my husband last night. The first things listed on the back of the phone is: "if you have a current AT&T account, simply place your SIM card into this phone and enjoy."

This phone comes with a Go Phone SIMM card, but if you have an ATT account, you will need a new SIMM card from ATT.

This phone does come with a SIM card, but it's clearly marked as a goPhone SIM. If you want to use it as a contract phone, you will still have to get AT&T to send you (or give you) a contract 3G SIM card to use in this phone.

My phone came with a GoPhone SIMM card. I had to get a new SIMM card to use this phone as an ATT phone.

The way mine gets recharged is when I plug the charger into an AC outlet and then plug it into the side of the phone. Pretty much the same way every cell phone I've ever seen does. There are chargers that work off the cigarette lighter in an auto also, but this phone did not come with one of those supplied.

It comes with an AC adapter that plugs into a "port" on the side of the phone. This "port" has a stay attached plastic cover.

Glad to know I am not the only one who could not find the charging slot. There is a tiny little twist-panel on the side where you plug it in. Took me about 5 minutes of really inspecting the phone to find it. You gently pull it out and twist, and then plug it in. Hope that helps!

I was at an AT&T store today, with this same problem. The sales associate actually suggested that I buy a goPhone from Walmart or Target. She said make sure it's a go phone, and just switch your SIM card.

Just spoke with ATT about this exact problem and was told that yes you can do this you just need to activate the sim card to the new phone which I believe you can do at your local ATT store or also online.

I just spoke with AT&T because I'm having the same issue. They said they couldn't guarantee this would work because it's not proper upgrade procedure. But I have put my SIM card in old phones before to use them so I'm guessing it will work.

I buy the $25 option from paygonline.com (spelled like this) it windows the minutes for 90 days, if I buy the $25 option again before the 90 days expires (which I typically do), it rolls whatever was left into the next 90 days. If you gap, you lose what is left, but it holds your number for 60 days. I've been able to keep my same pay-as-you-go number for over two years.

yes, you buy minutes as needed. i top my minutes once a month or you can do it every three months depending on the amount that you buy. an atnt store employee can explain it better to you and you can check with them before buying this phone.
