Check with your plan. Assurance Wireless minutes do not overlap/rollover even if you paid for extra minutes, but cash balance does roll over. Watch out for ordering minute plans you will not use. Activating the $10 card for your phone will allow you to save your balance even if you do not add an extra plan yet, and purchase immediately when you want.

Question

I have a Virgin Blackberry 8530 with wi fi. I rarely leave home but have wi fi. Can I use wi fi without using minutes?

I also have a T mobile hot spot which I use when traveling, but may discontinue my home internet and use the T mobile all the time. I don't have to download movies, etc. and a $35 60 day card should last me 2 mos. I don't use the cell phone much, but wondered if my wi fi phone will "eat" up minutes from my $10 card. If not, I can cut my $110 monthly bill for internet and cell phone down to about $27 per month.
Thanks

generally the rate is 10 cents a minute and they last thirty days, so you buy 100 minutes for thirty days. every text takes away 1 minute, also.

If it is a Virgin Mobile you should be able to. It must be on the Virgin Network. You can visit virginmobileusa.com for more info.

It's not about the cellphone type, it's if your current service provider is activated and of Virgin Mobile (or ex: Assurance Wireless) brand. You can even add the card value to your account with out spending any of it if you do not purchase plans and or use a communication service that exceeds the means of the previous.
