A charge on THIS model only lasts for about 1-3 hours. We have had both the white (PRD07T10WWH756) model and this one, the PRD07T10WWH756 white one lasts about 4-6 hours.

Depends on what you're doing on the Novel. If just reading a book, mine will last 5-6 hours. With heavy internet searching it lasts about 2-3 hours.

My reader lasts about 8 hours if I don't have Wi-Fi on and about 4 hours if I have Wi-Fi on, so if you aren't using Wi-Fi, turn it off to same a lot more battery life. I keep my AC adapter plugged into it when I am home and only use the battery when I am out. I bought an ordinary 12 foot extension cord so I can move around quite a lot even when it is plugged in, that way I can use it as much as I want.

Question

Does this e reader offer games?

I read that the white ereader that is sold online at toysrus have games such as word search. I was wondering if the black one offered the same feature? If not, can games such as this be downloaded to the black ereader?

The white one does have games. The black one states that it does, but it didn't. We took the black one back and purchased the white model instead. I also can't stress enough that if you want more than solitaire and link up (another game for young children) you should consider purchasing the white reader (PRD07T10WWH756) and going to Pandigital's site and putting the Android OS on it, then you can add as many games as you want! I have Life and Monopoly on mine and 80% of any others I've tried work flawlessly!

I was expecting it to have games included, as one of the video's about it on youtube said that it did. But, I didn't find any games on it, and you can't play any games online on it. I don't reccomend it.

Question

Note taking?

Everything I've been reading about this system sounds good but is there any kind of method of taking notes. Like a word(ish) program. I'm looking for something that I can read books, access the net, and take notes on.

There are some good Android applications that you can try. I haven't found one that I like to date, but I haven't done a lot of looking. You will have to go to Pandigital's site and update your OS to the Android OS to get all these awesome apps to work.

Yes. When you are reading a book, you simply press your finger on the page and up pops a box where you can highlight what you want, search for a word, or take a note. Press note and a box pops up for you to type your notes in along with a keyboard to type with.

Also in Calendar, you can press a date and up pops up a note taking box to type anything you want to take notes to remind you such as appointments or holidays. As far as a notepad that is all by itself, I don't see that. You can also add addresses in Contacts for phone numbers and such.

It is great for taking notes related to your books, but if you are looking to write a lot on it, then an i-Pad is what you are looking for instead.

Question

now that I know about Wifi...

If u can go on the internet and use lets say Facebook...how do you interact with this webpage....at home I'm use to a keyboard...how would I type on this ereader ? or should I just start shopping around for a Laptop ? And with a Laptop...are they set up w/wifi also ? So sorry my questions are probably so simple for most people...but I don't own many electronics of this nature.

You can type the same way as you do on an iphone or any phone that has internet access. I don't recommend this though. It has very few things you can do on FB. I can only read my page , can't leave comments, go to other's pages etc...

The Pandagital has a keyboard which opens up at the bottom of the screen when you want to type something. You need a fingernail to type a letter and then sometimes it is hit or miss. So, yes you can use Facebook and update it, but it's a slower process.
You may be happier with a laptop. Most have wifi built it. The bonus with a laptop or any computer is that you can go to B&N, Amazon, Borders websites and download their ereader software and you can read books on your computer.

For Facebook this only does the most simple interaction. There are no flash games, so you can't play Farmville and the like. The e-reader has an on-screen typewriter. When you tap on a line where you would type, then a little keyboard pops up on the screen and you can type with it.
This does have Wi-Fi, so you can use it for free from your local restaurants, but you can also use it on a home network too. However, there is no 3G like the iPad, so you will need a computer at home if you want to set this up on a network.
I don't know what your price range is but a lot depends on what you are looking for. If you are wanting something simple that you can get online from time to time (not something for daily use) then the reader isn't bad. If you want something where you can shop, type word documents, or do any heavy browsing, or gaming, I'd recommend a laptop. Wal-mart has a great selection of laptops (no I'm not an employee) but again, it depends on your situation. If you want something less than 300 - 400 dollars, then you probably won't find a laptop that would make you very happy. I hope this helps some!

I use the mobile page of Facebook on my iPhone and my Pandigital Novel. It has a keyboard that you can use a provided stylus (pen like instrument) to tap the keys or you can use your fingernail. My favorite computing device is a Netbook (smaller than a laptop). The netbook will do a LOT more than the Pandigital Novel can do.

You are able to go onto the Youtube website, but however you are not able to watch videos on youtube because the vido format on youtube is not able to be played on the Pandigital Novel. Only mp4 or mpeg4 format is able to be played on the Pandigital Novel

You can access youtube AFTER you go to Pandigitals site and convert the OS to Android. Follow the steps carefully, I got it after the second time I tried, then you can find an application from the different Android apps out there for YouTube!

No. It plays Mp4s. If you are a techie you can go on the Pandigital website and download the Android open-platform kit which basically makes it an android tablet but you have to know some tech skills to get it done. If you do, then yes you could get YouTube.

not to date, this may change in the future. You can download several apps and even watch YouTube videos from the Android applications but you have to go to Pandigitals site and go through the effort of putting Android on it instead of how it originally comes. I'm hopeful that Netflix will be available on it soon!

Set up an account with Barnes and Noble, then you can download books from anywhere in the world that has Wifi access. Once they are downloaded, you own them, they are stored in the unit. The Vizio internet router available at Walmart or Sams Club is mega simple to set up and works flawlessly.
