Questions & Answers for Intex Intex 24' x 12' x 52" Ultra Frame Above Ground Swimming Pool with Sand Filter

Question

The size of package of this pool?

Hi! I have a friend who loves this pool but she lives in China. She asked me to buy this for her and send it over to China. But she wants to know the size of the package so she could estimate the money to pay for it. It seems pretty big and costs lots of money. Thanks. Please reply me soon cause she won't be at home for the next two weeks.

Your pool can be easily emptied and stored in a safe place during the winter. However, many people choose to leave their pool up year round. In areas where freezing temperatures occur, there is risk of ice damage. It is recommended that you drain, disassemble and store the pool in a safe place when temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. See the "How To Drain Your Pool" section in your manual. STORING POOL FOR WINTER: After draining the pool, dry the pool liner completely (100%). Next sprinkle talcum powder on the liner to prevent vinyl from sticking together and to absorb any moisture you may have missed. Roll the pool liner to avoid creases and relocate it to the storage area you've chosen. Place it in the original carton, if you saved it. Keep all of the parts together including the filter pump, manual, and pool, and then place in an area that will remain at room temperature throughout the storage season. WINTERIZING YOUR POOL: Clean the pool water thoroughly (In the case of the Easy Set Pool, make sure the top ring is properly deflated). Remove the skimmer (if applicable) or any accessories attached to the threaded strainer connector. Replace the strainer grid if necessary. Be sure all accessories and parts are clean and completely dry before storaging. Plug the Inlet and Outlet fittings from the inside of the pool with the plug provided (sizes 10' and 12'). Close the Inlet and Outlet Plunger Valve (15', 18', and 24'). Remove the ladder (if applicable) and store it in a safe place. Be sure the ladder is completely dry before storaging. Remove the hoses that connect the pump and filter to the pool. Add appropriate winter chemicals. Consult your local pool dealer as different regions vary greatly. Cover pool with your Intex Pool Cover. IMPORTANT: INTEX POOL COVER IS NOT A SAFETY COVER. Clean and drain the pump, filter housing and hoses. Remove and discard old filter cartridges (keep a spare cartridge available for the next season). Bring the pump and filter parts indoors and store them in a safe and dry area, preferably heated.

The recommended water depth for that size pool is 45 inches.

Yes, depending on how much water you put in the pool you should get about 50". The more water you put in the more you splash out when you are swimming and playing.

If the ground is not concrete (i.e., if it is asphalt, lawn, or earth) you must place a piece of pressure-treated wood, size 15” x 15” x 1.2” under each U-shaped support and flush with the ground. Alternatively you may use steel pads or reinforced tiles.

you need to put them under the legs, I have this pool and I used treated 1"x8" boards that I cut into 15" pieces and then used 2 next to each other to make a rough 15"x15" footing. It's working out just fine , but I think next year I will go with a large patio block instead. Also know that the filter needs to be on something solid as well

The liner itself is your pool's walls. The pipeing itself, is the only thing that is seperate from the liner (besides the ladder and the pump)

The filter is not a saltwater filter. (doesn't matter about the pool itself) we purchased a saltwater filter and it was the best decision we ever made.

This pool comes with the sand filter(which is the pump). Yes, you can use a saltwater system with the sand filter. If you want to use saltwater system, you have to purchase it separately.

NO. It's not the worst ladder, but it's definitely the worst feature of the pool. It's also very NARROW. Great for little kids. Not so great for mama.

Question

Other than leveling the ground, does anything else have to be done under the pool for the set up? Do we need to put sand down?

If sand is recommended, how much have you used. It seems like we would need a truck full not bags.
Also from the look in the pictures, are there vinyl straps around the base of the metal side supports or is it a different material?

Intex does not recommend using sand during the construction of our pool. We would recommend using compacted dirt, or any other material that won't move around when the weight of the water is on top of it. The strap around the center of the pool is made out of vinyl.

We didnt use sand but we did get a truck load of clean dirt, then we purchansed a thin layer of insulation foam to cover the bottom of the pool so there would be some cushion and protection from the ground and the pool. i would recommend buying pavers to go under the legs because once you add the water the weight will add pressure and youll need the pavers so the legs wont sink. Our ground is not perfectly leveled but we have had ours up for 2 years without taking it down and we/my kids love it. I do recommend buying the saltwater system love love love it.
