Questions & Answers for Intex Intex 24' x 12' x 52" Ultra Frame Above Ground Swimming Pool with Sand Filter

Question

Is the cover good quality?

If I decide to keep this up all winter, is the supplied cover good enough to use or is it as bad as the ones you get with the round pools? Just wondering if I'll need to buy a winter cover. Thanks

The Intex pool cover is not a winter or a safety cover. It is met to help keep debris out of the pool during the summer months. Please check with your local pool supply store for a winter or safety pool cover.

The cover is a thin rubbery type cover. The cover has several vent holes to help keep the cover in contact with the water level. I do not think the cover would suffice as a winter cover.

The pool sides should start to swing out when the pool reaches about 90% of its maximum water capacity.

the metal fram support legs are metal and the top support is metal encased in the very very heavy vinyl. A ton thicker than the traditional round pool vinyl liners should last for years and years

I believe galvanized piping and the liner itself. Pretty simple.

We had one at our last home specifically for our Labs. Built a small wood deck around about 1/3. Modified ladder, chopped off the outside part and attached to deck, screwed down part of a rubber maid step stool ladder down low on the part that goes in the water. Dogs can swim right up to that with stairs under water at right height, and get out. You just have to show them/guide them the 1st several times. Had ours for years, no incidents with nails and the liner, even though one likes to push off the far end before turning around to retrieve. There are also steps that can be purchased and put inside the pool on the liner as a whole unit. Thinking of doing that this year, national places like in the swim sell them.

You can use salt or chlorine. You'll have to purchase Saltwater Santiizing System if you want to use salt. Or purchase chlorine if you want to use chlorine.

The filter that it comes with is a chlorine filter and it is not very good. We purchased a saltwater filter the second year of use and it was the best decision we ever made. We have had for 4 years now.

This model doesn't include the Salt Water System. So if you don't buy the Salt Water System, you must add chlorine to the water.

answer 2
You can only bury this one partially is you leave enough room for the side supports. I wouldnt recomend this though because the instructions say to give at least five ft. of work space on all four sides of the pool and we found this to be very true. O and we received the pool in about two and a half weeks after we purchased it. By the way, great delivery service.

No, this pool is not a salt water pool. In order to convert your pool over to saltwater, you would need to purchase the CS8110 saltwater system. This saltwater system will hook up to the sand filter that came with your pool. To finish the conversion process, you would just need to add salt into the pool and turn the saltwater system on.

Question

Other than leveling the ground, does anything else have to be done under the pool for the set up? Do we need to put sand down?

If sand is recommended, how much have you used. It seems like we would need a truck full not bags.
Also from the look in the pictures, are there vinyl straps around the base of the metal side supports or is it a different material?

Intex does not recommend using sand during the construction of our pool. We would recommend using compacted dirt, or any other material that won't move around when the weight of the water is on top of it. The strap around the center of the pool is made out of vinyl.

We didnt use sand but we did get a truck load of clean dirt, then we purchansed a thin layer of insulation foam to cover the bottom of the pool so there would be some cushion and protection from the ground and the pool. i would recommend buying pavers to go under the legs because once you add the water the weight will add pressure and youll need the pavers so the legs wont sink. Our ground is not perfectly leveled but we have had ours up for 2 years without taking it down and we/my kids love it. I do recommend buying the saltwater system love love love it.
