Above answers are from people that don't own either or both bikes. I own both. If you like single speed bikes, you will like it, if you like multispeed bikes with mountain style shifters the denali is for you. Both have comparable build quality, with the exception of the freewheel on the denali, that is its only weak point. The detain can be turned into a fixie only if you replace the rear hub, it is a free/free hub there is no lockring threading on it. If you want a single speed that is fixie ready then buy the thruster fixie. And to those that think it is possible to threadlock a fixed cog on, then go ahead and use threadlock red, and then hope it never comes loose. I would rather replace the rear hub and have a proper lockring holding the cog on. Mine is just fine with the free gear on the back, I don't believe in riding fixed on the street.

yes, it can turn into a fixie. It is a flip flop hub design you just need to buy a cog and lock ring.

Denali has gears mongoose has just 1 (you probably already knew this). the bike has a flip flop hub according to reviews so u just need to add a fixed gear sprocket to the other side $10. No big deal. This bike is going to perform better for you if you live in an urban or otherwise flat area. The Denali will perform better if you want to climb hills as well. For the price of the Denali though keep in mind the weight will be high for the climbs and the shifting will be rough.

700c x 25

I put 700c x 32 on it, little thicker for the riding I do.. Still fits the rims fine. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if I took a hard curb that the rim would burst through the sidewall. Just ride carefully..

It came with 700x26 tires. I replaced them with 700x23 tires and I'm thinking of going even skinnier next time.

Shorter wheel base whch gives a more sporty or quicker control. It will be more ridged.

answer 2
In order to shorten the wheelbase, bringing the front wheel closer to the rear giving quick steering and sportie ride it is necessary to bend the seat tube. Schwinn did this on their SPRINT in 1974. Very classic!

The stem is a standard quill stem, you can replace away and put on bullhorns etc, just be aware some group rides won't allow them as a safety issue in case of crashes, to keep people from getting gored.
answered 1 year, 10 months ago

answer 4
I see why not. The stem has pop-top so no need to "thread" in bars. Clamping surface fits standard ISO 1" / 25.4mm handlebar.
This on my example, seems that specs have varied on these bikes.
Personally I'd say that this is not the kind of bike I would put aerobars on. But maybe vintage bullhorns for the coolness factor . . .

How is this bike different than the Mongoose Cachet?

the cachet was a straight seat tube and had different colors

answer 2
Height and overall weight are about the same. The frame on this bike is a bit thinner and more rounded vs the cachet's oval frame. Also the rear post wraps around the back tire on this bike but not on the cachet. Generally speaking, they are very similar, but only a few design differences set them apart.

it's a bit smaller than the cachet, that's about it. the frame is thinner, and obviously has that bent part by the rear wheel. It has the exact same tires/wheel size, and in my case handlebars too.

answer 2
It might be a little bit of a stretch, but not much. I'm 5'8-5'9 and it felt fine to me. I think I could have taken the seat down an inch or two also.

answer 3
i'd say yes if you have a long torso. the seat goes down pretty low, since the frame is slanted to the back, it's bending over to reach the handlebars that you may struggle with. i mean, you can bend over and reach them i'm sure, but will it be comfortable...

answer 1
it has really low gearing so you have to peddle very fast to have a decent top speed. no it is not a fied gear, but you can make it one.

ANTDADDY0

answer 2
it isnt a fixed gear. so you can coast. the ride is similar to a road bike, except the frame's geometry is a little more upright.
answered 2 years, 8 months ago
By
andrew666
answer 3
it's pretty light, so it's quick to accelerate, but the gear ratio is a little low, so you have to pedal pretty quickly to obtain high speeds. the pedals don't move with the wheel, it's a freewheel, not a fixed gear.

yes the frame is pretty well built, it's just the parts that are kind of cheap. you'll probably want to upgrade the brakes and grips right away.
