The audio is connected via a line or headphone input and the soundbar has an inbuilt amplifier so it requires power. The soundbar is supplied with an 18v AC adaptor.

How can I hook this up to an LG TV?

I bought this sound bar for my parents, they have a new LG TV. The cable provided does not allow you to hook this directly up to the TV. How do I hook this up? Do I have to hook it to the cable box vs. the TV?

I also bought this product and have a Sony TV, could not hook it up right either! Had to use the red/white connection, why the heck can I not use the plug in on a Sony TV?

I first hooked mine to the TV and thought it was not working. A friend came over and explained that the sound was controlled by the cable/u-verse box. Once he corrected this and hooked it to the cable/u-verse box--Sounds AMAZING!

No, it does not. It has an 1/8" stereo analog input. A cable and an RCA > 1/8" adpater are included.

Depends on your television and how you have it hooked up. With my TV, I can use the stereo cables and sound will still play through the regular TV speakers simultaneously, but it has a delay, so I mute it. When using the 3.5mm jack, it mutes the sound from the television.

This is dependent on the operation of the TV, although generally speaking if you connect it to a headphone jack the sound will cut off but if you connect it to a 'line out' the TV volume will stay on and be controlled independently.

Make sure the all connections are tightly plugged in all the way to the jacks or it will buzz loudly.

Because some TVs ONLY have OPTICAL output which cannot be connected to this unit's analog input. Therefore, it will not work. It was misstated in the original description.

does this have to be right next to the tv, or can i put it across the room without running a wire?

I ask because the back of my living room tv faces the kitchen & when someone is watching tv in living room too much sound is coming into kitchen because that tv's speaker is in the back of the tv. I want to put this across the room from the tv if possible? I think that even having the sound bar project the sound into the living room from the front of the tv will help if i can turn off the regular tv speaker.

for an optimal experience, the sound bar is best as a center channel speaker that also provides right and left sound. of course you can place the sound bar in other places to best suit your needs.

The sony only has analog hook-up. Top or bottom is your call...I like it on the bottom because it gives a more uniform look...

You can do either. Bottom mounting would probably be better for a wall mounted tv. So the sound will be projected out more at ear level. The soundbar has mounting holes in the back of it.

Sounds like a ground "Hum". Either the house is an older house without a ground connection or too many audio/video pieces are running into the same outlet.

Sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere. Make sure your RCA plugs are fully inserted.

The hum is likely AC 60hz - try plugging the soundbar into a different AC outlet in the room, one that isn't supplying power to your other components - also check the placement of audio connecting cables to see if moving them away from AC cables makes a difference.
