Questions & Answers for Generic Westclox Atomic Clock

Question

Do you have to plug it in?

Does is use a plug only or can you use a battery? Where I want it, there is no outlet. Also does it glow all the time? I hate lights on when I sleep, I need a clock that doesn't glow always.

It runs only on batteries. It takes two "AAA" batteries; I recommend alkaline batteries. To save the batteries, the display light goes out 5 seconds after you touch the button to view the time. The display is visible at all times when the room lights are on.

The clock is battery operated. It does not light up unless the silver snooze bar is pressed (it will stay lit just long enough to view the time).

It uses two AA batteries in its back. There is no connection to any other power source. Its back light is "on demand" only--does not stay on. You tap the base (also used as snooze button) and it will come on for a few seconds and then extinguish.

This is not a plug-in clock. It runs on 2 AAA batteries...perfect for travel. However, I'm not sure if the time will accurately change on its own outside of the U.S. Perhaps someone else can answer that question.

There is no external power connection at all. It only uses two internal AAA batteries. You should be OK anywhere you can find batteries! I'm unsure about the atomic function, however, but, you can always set its time manually.

No external power required, it runs on 2 AAA batteries. I am wondering if S. America might not get the 'time' signal it needs to synchronize daily.

Press the mode/set button until the alarm time is displayed then press and hold the mode/set button again until the alarm hour begins to flash. To change the alarm hour, press either the "up" or "down" buttons on the back of the clock. Once the alarm hour is correct, press the mode/set button. Now the alarm minutes time will flash. Press either the "up" or "down" buttons to change the minutes. Press the mode/set button one last time and the clock display will revert to the current time.

You can set it manually or wait for it to connect to the satellite. The instructions come with it. I had to reset it several times to get it to connect to the satellite but once it did it is a very nice clock for the money.

I have had two of them for years, and that never happens.

Do you live in the USA? I think it can only remember USA time zones.

Does it show that you are receiving the WWVB radio signal late at night? That is indicated by a radar dish symbol in the upper right of the display, just below the USA map.

If you aren't seeing that symbol, your clock isn't getting a strong enough signal to maintain "atomic" time synchronization, and will require periodic manual adjustment. You might try moving the clock around your room or house to see if you can pick up the radio signal. Might be tough if you live in an area surrounded by tall buildings. Try a location near a window facing toward Colorado, if possible.

It has buttons to easily set your time zone and whether you want it to follow Daylight Savings Time. You can activate the alarm each night with one button touch. Change the alarm by pushing more buttons. Not hard to do. I'm picky, but have no complaints about the ease of use.

The "atomic clock" receiver works well here in Massachusetts (the transmitter is in Colorado). Nobody will have more accurate time, if you use one of these.

I've had two, for a total of about 7 years. I can't remember replacing a battery, but I'm sure I have. They work great and I'd recommend them highly. They will last you for years.
