Yes, the Sony DCRSX45/L Camcorder has Built-in zoom microphone which works in conjunction with 60x optical zoom to get vivid sound appropriate to the zoom position maintaining the image quality. The professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens is designed specifically for compact camcorders. Precision ground optics helps to maintain the sharpness and contrast of larger lenses, and Steady Shot image stabilization helps in reducing blur caused by camera shake. The built-in zoom microphone focuses audio recording on the subjects with the camera's zoom lens, helping memories seem real with clear dialogue and crisp, discrete sounds.

Does it have a stereo audio line-in jack?

I want to run multiple sound sources to a mixer and then to the camera in high-quality stereo audio. If not, do you know of another mid-priced camera that offers that?

Question

seems like every time I turn to camcorder off and on it starts a NEW video, is there a way to continue and not always start a new video.

Example. recording a birthday party and turn camcorder off when turn back on it don't continue where I left off it starts a new video. I want to continue the birthday all on one>> HELP PLEASE.
Walmart told me to PAUSE it and don't turn it off but that might be half hour or so before I start recording again. That makes not sense to me. They told me walmart can take all videos and combine them onto 1 dvd but take a week and cost money. If I can't continue recording back to back I will take camcorder back.
Makes no sense it don't continue where you left off, even the person at walmart agreed. HELP PLEASE

Yes, if the Sony DCR-SX45 Camcorder is set to PAUSE while recording videos, the further clips will be continued along with the previous video clip. However, if the Camcorder is turned OFF, the next file recording cannot be continued with the previous one. This will start a new video recording. It’s a normal operation.
