answer 1
Yes, it automatically shuts off in two instances:

1. if the water level in the tank is full (it holds about 2 gallons)

2. when the air reaches the desired humidity level

Yes, but the sensitivity is dependent on each person's application. One may have to 'play' with the setting until they can find what will work for them. I had to set mine 10-15% above the desired setting to achieve what I preferred. An inconvenience but once figured out it works fantasticlly

Yes, it has an outlet for a hose. You have to buy the hose yourself. Note: it drains from the hose outlet via gravity. It will not pump the water out.

Yes, I have a hose hooked up to my dehumidifier and it runs into a sump pump. It hooks up very easily. Remove the bucket on the front of the unit and insert the hose from the side opening. Screw it tight and run the hose to wherever you want the water to drain.

Yes, there are at least 2 extended service plans offered by Wal-mart if you purchase the unit there. I don't normally buy extended warranties, but in this case I expect to be using this unit heavily so I did buy it. The 3-year plan was $29 plus tax. There is also a 2-year plan. I don't remember the exact price but it was an easy decision to go with the 3-year version.

Yes. Walmart has a 3-yr extended warranty for about $28. Note: In my review of this product I incorrectly stated that the warranty was less than $10. Still at $28 it is worth it since dehumidifiers break often.

The direction booklet says not to use an extension cord. That is good advice for all dehumidifiers because they draw a lot of electricity. If you must use an extension cord for your location, it should be heavy-duty.

Question

Does this unit have Auto Defrost Control?

What Refrigerant Type is used? Is it
R-410A or R22?

Why is the model # for Walmart just slightly different from the GE models listed elsewhere?

ADEW65LP instead of ADER65LP

Yes, it has an auto defrost control. I read in other reviews that it works perfectly when set on 'high' but not so well if set on 'low'.

I don't know what type of refrigerant it has.

I suspect, but do not know, that GE uses different model numbers to prevent direct comparison shopping at other stores. That way, other stores who may not be able to compete with Walmart on price will still stock it. I will say that I found the specs of this unit to be the best for the price.

Yes, according to the manual it does have automatic reset to the setting that had been in place. This was an important feature for me. I have tested this feature by pulling the plug while the unit was on, waiting a while, and plugging it back in. It did go right back to the desired setting.

I don't know that it "resets" per say, but I left mine plugged in during a power outage. When I came back to my house after power was restored, it had been running. So yes, it will come online & run as soon as power is restored without having to turn it on.

I don't remember whether this model has a HEPA filter. That was not an important feature for me.

It does not have a defrost control. I have read on other reviews that the defrost function works perfectly if you keep the fan on 'high', but sometimes not as well if you put it on 'low.
