yes, it comes with an external wall charger, and that's the ONLY way I have found to charge the batteries. Attaching the USB cable doesn't do it, even if it's on there all night connected to a powered computer.

The charger is cheap, it doesn't seem to turn off when the batteries are fully charged. On the contrary, they get quite warm and stay warm long after they are fully charged.

Yes, there is a rudimentary manual zoom feature on the Z990 MAX camera. It is reached (in PASM mode) via the button used to switch focal modes (Macro, SuperMacro, Infinity and Manual) this is covered in the extended users manual (available from the Kodak site) that many people answering these questions appear to have not bothered to read.

No, you can't manually zoom the Kodak Z990. The digital zoom doesn't always get just the precise zoom you wish but isn't bad.

answer 9
No, zoom is on a ring surrounding the shutter button and is mechanical. It is very responsive, works instantly in either direction. Zoom is 30x optical in all modes and an additional 5x digital zoom (which is slower and not as responsive) available only when NOT shooting in smart mode.

yes, it does! It's not much noise, but it's enough that you'll hear it in your finished videos. I guess the microphones are very sensitive, and not far from the zoom motor. The noise isn't too bad, but it's still very much there, especially when taking videos in a relatively quiet environment. It's a problem that shouldn't happen, in my opinion, but I'm not sure you can expect too much from a camera in this price range.

The optional Kodak Pocket Video Digital Camera Remote Control 8716276/1402486. Available from many retailers DOES indeed work with the Kodak Z990 MAX camera. And it can, contrary to the incorrect asnwer of another user, be used to take still images. I have personally used the Kodak remote several dozen times with my Z990.

Yes. There is.

Just go to the Kodak website, find the z990, go to Accesories, and there will be a remote listed. You CAN take pictures with it, despite it not talking in the description of the remote about anything other then video.

I found some people in a few discussions on Amazon talking about the remote taking pictures and a little glitch that happens. preview.tinyurl.com/7qjatmv
There's that discussion.
