Yes. No problem at all. I set this tent up in my living room first to check it over when I got it. It stands in a normal configuration without stakes. If you use
it outside, be sure to stake it though. Wind!

This can easily be set up indoors without using the stakes. There are pins on each corner of the tent that fit inside the bottom of the poles to keep them secure as well as plastic clips midway up to secure them.

Yes, the tent poles are held in place by pins at the corner, and the tent will not need to be staked. You could even attach the rain fly by tying the guide lines to the same rings at the corner.

It is by no means water proof. The package claimed that it was coated in everdry and the seams were taped to provide a waterproof tent, but after about 15 minutes of medium to light rain the tent had filled with more water than my 16 year old tent i was planning on replacing.

You will find reviews on that point which go both ways on this tent. Your not going to know about the one you got until you get hit by rain. I'd bring extra plastic along on camping trips, just in case. Tents
don't have consistent quality control in water proofing by my experience.

answer 3
This tent is not good for torrential downpours and not good for areas where water pools. If you have it on a flat surface away from hills/slopes, it can withstand a good downpour. The water slowly seeps in if too much rain, but for the most part still keeps the water from coming in through the roof and only some moisture comes in through stitching around the base or over-wetting from the rain.

The inside of the tent stayed dry during a thunderstorm. We used an additional tarp (6' x 8') as a ground cloth under the tent. Not sure that was necessary, but it was recommended by experienced campers.

Question

What is the center height?

I noticed the 12x8' version of this tent shows the dimensions as 48" high but then elsewhere touts the center height as 6'1". I see this tent also says the height dimension is 48"... so does that imply that in fact the center height is also greater? 4' is awfully low, I have a hard time thinking it could really only be 48" at center. Please clarify.

The tent center height is only 4' thus a 'back-packing' tent as specified in the description. It requires minimal crouching as it's just a sleeping quarters and at 6' 1", I have no problem getting in and out.

answer 1
The tent is weatherproof to the extent it repels most water/precipitation, but torrential rains can wet the inside through stitching and any pooling water outside the tent. As for heat and cold, well it's a thin material and will adapt with the conditions.

answer 4
By weatherproof if you mean waterproof? If it rains you will not get wet. If you lay the tent over an area where water typically runs through during a heavy rain, it is possible you will get wet from the ground. which is typical with most backpack tents. Always bring 4mil or thicker plastic to lay under your tent for added protection. Just make sure the plastic is cut smaller than the base of you tent to keep from collecting rain and funneling it under the tent.

That could depend on your definition of weatherproof, but I would say it is. Over Father's Day weekend, I went camping and on the second night, we had a storm; wind, rain, thunder, lightening, and hail. The tent faired well and only a little condensation formed inside. By the next afternoon everything was bone dry again. It also helps if you suspend a tarp over the top and treat the tent with silicone water gaurd. Just a few measures that can help set your mind at ease.

It repels water quite well unless around pooled water and heavy downpours that can seep in through stitching, but nothing that would cause flooding in the tent unless you were around pooling water or hills etc. that could bring a heavy ground stream.

It's roughly 26"L X 9"W X 6"D. It comes in a soft-sided zipper bag, and we had great success fitting it back in (with room to spare) on the first try!
It's very possible you could get it smaller depending on how tight you pack/roll it, and if you use the included case or not.
The weight is about 9-10lbs.

The chemical vapors coming off a charcoal grill along with food grease and smoke would likely stink your tent up
instantly to a degree that you would have to trash it. The lack of needed ventilation would also make you ill. If your just trying to block wind or have a little cover while you cook, you might consider a Sport-Brella XL. GOOGLE it. I use mine alongside my tent.

NO,NO YOU CAN NOT USE ANYTHING IN A TENT THAT BURNS !!!!! Not only can the tent burn IT WILL burn and fast. Also the charcoal will give off Co2 and that will kill you. Leave anything that is burning OUTSIDE the tent for your own safety. I smoke and I will not even smoke inside my tent.
