The white plastic lids are not for preserving, they are for the refrigerator or for dry goods like rice in the pantry (BTW, I find the Ball ones worth the extra money as the Mainstays version is not airtight). You can't get the one piece canning lids at Walmart but there are many sources online. Fillmore Container and Kitchen Krafts are two I know off the top of my head, but Google "one piece lids for mason jars" for more sources. They average about 35 cents each and are NOT reusable. Make sure to get the kind designed for high heat, not the ones marked as for "hot fill" or brief hot-water-bath canning since they do not seal as well. (Doesn't matter what Granny did, hot fill is no longer considered a safe canning method - we know a lot more about food safety now than we did 50-75 years ago.)
the one piece plastic lids are nice and they do fix good. I use them them often when not pressure canning.
Yes I've used them on these jars and they work fine.
Walmart carries Mainstay plastic lids for the small mouth and large mouth canning jars. They appear to be the same as the Ball plastic lids, but half the price.
