I sat in one that my sister-in-law bought and it was very comfortable. I was scared at first because I weigh about 275 but it held up just fine. I even fell asleep in it.

I'm guessing if you found the correct size it could be laid on top of the mesh fabric. Of course that would defeat any portable aspects of this chair. The mesh is surprisingly comfortable and there is an adjustable/removable pillow for your head.

you can't. If they have it in stores you can put a hold on it but they wont let you order it online.

The leg rest does not function independently. When you lean back, your legs go up. The recline positions aren't fixed so it's a smooth, infinite adjustment feel. There is a lock if you want to stay in a position while you are reclined but I have found that the chair doesn't move out of position unless you are shifting your weight. Hope this helps :)

Not entirely straight. You will still have a slight bend in your knee.

About 21 inches. measured between the inside part of the arm rests. Seems quite roomy to me.
