The Belkin N600 DB router is designed to cover a house of up to 3,000 sq ft, including multiple floors. The coverage does depend though upon the construction of your house as well as any other devices that might interfere with the wireless signal.

Question

Can this be connected through an existing wired router to the cable modem?

I have an existing wired modem that is connected to my cable modem and has been working great for my wired equipment, so I don't want to change that. I just want to add wireless capability to my existing wired network.

Yup....that'll work!
However, the wired stuff and the wireless stuff may not be able to "see" each other on the network through 2 firewalls. But if you plug your wired stuff into the LAN ports on the wireless router, they'll be able to communicate with the others yet still be "hardwired" to the modem.

If I remember correctly, it is backward compatible with 802.11. But when I tried to install one, it couldn't even talk to my computer with a ethernet cable connection. Tech support was a nightmare, and I returned it to the store.

answer 2
Probably not.

All 2.4ghz devices are set on a specific "frequency channel" when they leave the factory. It appears that your 2.4ghz cordless phone is on the same channel that Belkin uses for the default setting. So the N600 is most likely on the same channel as the others and therefore will not work for you out of the box either.

But all is not lost..........
Belkins own support page will give you detailed step-by-step instructions on how(with your computer's browser) you can easily change your routers default channel to alleviate interference to/from other 2.4ghz devices.
Or, you can google: "change router channel - Belkin".

You DO NOT need a new router!

answer 3
The Belkin N150 and N300 routers operate on the 2.4ghz band, as do some cordless phones, which is why you are disconnected whenever someone answers your phone. The N600 router operates on both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. The 5ghz band will help with disconnections but requires a dual band compatible wireless adapter.

I'd recommend you change the 2.4Hz to 5Hz so that it can reach a longer distance. Sorry I don't know, but I'm planning on buying wireless wifi speakers to sit by the pool and do whatever it takes so that the signal reaches the speakers. Try buying a higher than N600 like N800 or higher.

That its capable of streaming Netflix

answer 1
Yes it is, especially if you have cable internet. This router sends out dual bands (2.4 and 5.0) of signal. The 5.0 (when you set this up it will name this band -media)is intended to be the signal that you connect whatever you are using to stream Netflix. The reasoning for this is that the 5.0 band is much less crowded and the router will give it priority if needed. Using this router, we stream lots of content on a daily basis, all in 1080P, with no problems whatsoever.
