answer 2
It is... OK. It will send larger particles flying, but I think it's because I always forget to lower the level. I often used in the laundry room to pick up loose cat litter and I usually went over the edges with the wand and that got everything.

If you switch "OFF" the beater brush and use a lower power head height setting, it should perform quite well. If the beater brush is running on a hard surface such wood or tile flooring, it can scatter dirt instead of allowing the vacuum cleaner to capture it. Hope this helps.

I have a house cleaning business and use this vacuum nearly every day. It picks up everything! Yes, you can use it on bare floors. It works best on bare floors if you turn the brush off. Otherwise it will spit some debris out. Hope this helps!

answer 2
We had ours for 6 years and I'm ordering again. It never released a "cloud" of dust - it goes straight down. That said, I always found it better to take out the garbage before vacuuming so that I could drop the canister deep into the bag. If the bag is full, the dust and dirt lands on top of it and does spread a bit - like to the edges of the can which then need to be cleaned.

I personally put the canister in a plastic trash bag and open it inside the bag so all the dust is trapped inside.

Hi Janie, the great thing about the Heavy Duty is the dirt bin empties from the bottom to help prevent dust from flying all over!

there are 6 screws under the unit, you will have to turn it upside down after turning off the vacuum, get a screw driver, unscrew all the screws and open the unit to reach the brush at the bottom of the vacuum.

answer 2
Remove the 5 screws holding the black plastic body to the upper black body together, along with the 2 screws which hold the height adjuster wheels. Should come right apart. There may be some plastic tabs holding them together, so you may have to pry apart GENTLY. Use a wide, thin, screwdriver, if you need, in order to help. Good luck.

I've been using this thing a while now, and I just get my scissors and cut the hair right off the roller without ever having to even take the roller off, then pull the hair out. It's really easy.

You don't have to open it. Just use a sharp object to cut strings or anything that is caught on the roller brushes.

The owner's manual states that you are NOT supposed to remove the brush roll, or attempt to disassemble the vacuum foot.

To clean the brush roll, it states these directions as follows:

1.) Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet.
2.) Recline the handle and turn your cleaner over so the bottom side is up.
3.) Carefully cut away any visible hair, fibers or debris from the brush roll.

answer 6
It is not recommended that you open the location where the brush is. The recommended way to clean this vacuum or any other vacuum similar to this one would be to take a pair of scissors and carefully cut off across the brush, any hair or debris without damaging the brush itself. Once you have cut out the hair or other debris you can simply turn the vacuum on to suck up the mess or carefully pull it off by hand. Hope this helped.

It's the best for pet hair pickup!!! It works better than the Dyson pet, I know this because my house is cleaner than my friends who uses a Dyson Pet. (she is always asking to use mine). The amount of hair that I pick up amazes me, even after I had my carpets professionally cleaned the vacuum still filled up after one use (my house is clean, and I only have 2 cats!) Not only is it good for the hair, but it pulls up the dirt and dander that comes with animals, and it helps if you have someone in the home with allergies!

The hose attachment gets pet hair with ease, but the floor bristles have a little bit of difficulty picking up my German Shepard's fur. If you have long/short hair cats and short hair dogs there is no problem, but long hair dogs can pose a bit of difficulty for the floor bristles.

Yes, but you will need to make sure to empty more frequently, and clean the roller brush to avoid hair working its way to the bearings at the end. I would do this every few months or so. Sooner if you cleaning long dog or cat hair.

answer 5
I think this would be ideal for your application because of the deep and thorough cleaning ability of the Bissell Heavy Duty and the ease with which you can empty the dust bin. However, be aware that the machine is quite heavy at 24 pounds, a good 6 to 8 pounds heavier than your average machine.
