If you have a working VCR, you can connect it to the back of this Toshiba combo to record TV shows. First, connect your antenna to the coax antenna input of the VCR. Connect RCA cables (yellow, red, white) from the output of the VCR to the matching input jacks on the back of the Toshiba unit. Put the input source on the Toshiba remote to rear input that the VCR is plugged into. Whatever channel you dial up on the VCR will feed into the Toshiba unit's rear input position. Now you can insert your blank tape or blank DVD into the Toshiba machine and record the channel the external VCR is tuned to. This way, the VCR you have connected to the Toshiba machine acts as a cable box.

This model does not have a tuner. It does internal VHS to DVD and vice versa and will record from an external source such as a digital cam ( it has a mini usb connector in front pront panel and a set of input connectors for S Video and analog video/Audio.
There are rear connectors for routing the Video/Audio to a Tv or monitor..

This model does not have a tuner. To record TV programs, you'll have to have a cable or satellite box with a tuner.

The models Toshiba sold with tuners were discontinued about two years ago.

On this unit, you can set the timer on DVD or VHS, for up to 12 scheduled recordings, up to a month in advance, and up to 12 consecutive hours.

See, User's Guide TAB...

Fyi, Using a DVD-RW for recording is comparable to a HD (hard drive) - varied in re-recording space. The difference we care about is that DVD life probably won't be as reusable as a HD, in which HD's don't last forever either.

My advice is to make copies of your most precious recordings.

Yes, it does have timer recording capability. Take note that it does not have a tuner, so when it begins the timer recording, you must have an external device connected (cable box, satellite box), turned on, and on the channel you want to record.

Yes. The cables that come with it will allow you to hook it up to your TV. If you can get a signal and watch it on your TV you can record it on either the DVD or VHS.

answer 2
No. A TV doesn't have a video output, so there is no connection available from your TV for recording.

To record TV programs, the recorder must be connected to either a cable box or satellite box with audio/video outputs. Properly connected, you can record VHS or DVD.

This model, the DVR620, will record and play VHS tapes like a traditional VCR.

The key difference is that this does not have a tuner built in, so the program you record is fed to the recorder via video inputs connected to a cable or satellite box.

No. The TV is not designed for HD (High Definition) It is like trying to install a V8 engine in a car designed for a V6. You would think there is a way to do it but it's just not compatible.

answer 2
I'm going to assume you have a TV with a coaxial INPUT.

Unfortunately there is no adapter to convert an HDMI signal to an RF signal.

You can use an RF modulator to play back a VHS tape or DVD to your TV, but that won't address recording or getting any kind of signal into the recorder.

If I didn't understand the question correctly, please re-post with more details.
