Your TV is a HD unit so it likely has all the plugs necessary to connect this unit including an HDMI connection. I don't know what that other unit is but if it's a DVR, or for all that matters, any other unit such as a blue ray, you can connect the DVR, the DVD recorder and the TV in series, in that order. Your TV likely has several inputs for each machine to be pluged in separately so it can be used without turning all theother units on. Go to your TV input menu and/or look on the back or side iof your tv to see them.
What this machine DOES NOT have is a coaxial cable connection. Use the 3 RCA plugs to connect the cable/satilite box to this unit. Also connect your "box" directly to the tv with a coaxial cable or HDMI cable if your box has a HDMI output so you can see "box" transmissions without having this or anyother machine turned on.
Just a FYI, in my experience, HDMI cables will not support closed caption transmisions from any unit, if that's a concern, but they are much clearer.

This will work with any TV with a Composite video (yellow), Component video (Red,Green,Blue), S-Video, or HDMI inputs.
