The Android 2.2 Planet is restricted to an older version of Skype that does not support video calling. Android 2.3 is reputed to offer additional VOIP capabilities, including the ability to make video calls. Since I don't have a Android 2.3 Planet, I can't attest to the latter.

No. If you want a tablet that will have Android Market/Google Play, choose one with Android 3.0 or higher. Android 2.x and earlier is smartphone software and does not support the Android Market except when it is installed on smartphones. The market had to be optimized by Google for tablets and is only supported by the Android builds designed for tablets.

The Android Market website states that it is optimized for tablets with Android 3 OS (Honeycomb). The Planet comes with Android 2.3.4 OS. At least some of the Apps on that site appear to be compatible with Android 2.3.

If you are referring to Netflix then yes. You need a MicroSD card in your tablet to download the Netflix app to. The app itself can be found in the Amazon App Store for free.

answer 2
Now that I have the newer Planet with 512MB RAM and Android 2.3.4 OS I can answer the question more accurately. The installed browser supports Flash 10.x (10.2 as I recall). I was able to watch flash videos, play flash converted Power Point presentations as well as Flash SWF files. In other words, it appears fully Flash compatible.

None of the browsers handle framed websites well. Scrolling frames is erratic when available.

answer 3
If you have the Android 2.2 Planet, you cannot install Adobe Flash in browsers. Conversely, a YouTube viewer is provided. If you have the Android 2.3 Planet, I recall reading that Flash 10.x was supported. The newer operating system adds several improvements, including compatibility with a larger number of Android applications and improved VOIP support.

With reasonably active surfing or video playing, you can expect to get 3 hours of use on a full charge. A full charge will take a few hours from a depleted battery.

You can download an Amazon Kindle App from Amazon Appstore. Some books are free. Unlike the Kindle, the text to voice function does not support Kindle books.

Yes, indeed. the Barns and Noble app has many free books available, even tho you must create an account with a live credit card to be able to download.

I have also gotten free books from my library in the Adobe epub format. You must use adobe electronic editions to transfer the book from a "real" computer to the tablet over the usb connection. These books have a due date, and will be inactivated when that date passes. reconnecting to the BN site or the Library will update the tablet and delete books whose due dates have passed.
