answer 3
Yes! You have to break the barrel down after each shot to reload and reset the spring. This particular model requires the most effort I have seen. I have a number of other break-action air rifles in my collection which have similiar power, but which only require half the effort to prepare for the next shot. I'm at a loss to explain why the effort on this rifle is so heavy.

does this gun use co2

answer 1
No. This is a Break-Barrel Spring gun, which runs off of compressed air. What this means, is that you would physically break the barrel downward, and in the process this would fuel the gun with air automatically, then you would load the pellet, swing the barrel back up and take your shot. Therefore, it is a one shot capacity gun, and you have to break the barrel before each shot.

NO. Its spring loaded.

answer 3
No, the rifle "makes" its own air when you cycle the break-action barrel. The gun uses a large coil spring and an air piston to provide the compressive force required upon shooting.

Make certain you do not "dryfire" a spring-piston airgun (shoot it without a pellet). Doing so damages the piston.

answer 2
Certainly. Both barrels are rifled for accuracy. On the downside it means that you cannot use BB's. In the old days many .177 airguns were smoothbore and would shoot both pellets and BB's. Today, I can't think of a single pellet rifle barrel that isn't rifled.

answer 3
They all weigh about 7-8 pounds... you can find the precise weight for each model under specifications. Weight is a highly subjective term, and depends mostly on how long you have had to carry the rifle that day. :) A light rifle might "weigh" 20-pounds by the end of the hunt!

Around 9 pounds.

Its heavy for a pellet rifle but its because of the solid wood stock, it weighs about 8 pounds or so but no problem in the woods.

Yes, you should be able easily to switch barrels regardless of whether or not you use a threadlocker. That's not a bad idea considering the allen screw keeps coming loose on mine.

Yes, loc-tite is no problem to remove intentionally with a tool. Loc-tite doesn't seize the threads, but only resists vibration. Remember to clean the threads with a solvent before applying loc-tite. Residual oil on the threads can prevent loc-tite from doing its job.

Can this gun kill a rabbit?

With which caliber can it kill a rabbit? .177 or .22

answer 1
It can kill a rabbit with either, however I would highly recommend you use the .22 as it has more energy and will result in a cleaner kill, even if your shot placement isn't perfect. You can pull it off with a .177, but you better be darn sure that you can put that pellet in the perfect spot. Even then, the .177 will not guarantee a 100% clean kill. So I would stick with the .22 on that one.

Others report the .22 will go thru 1/2 inch pine @ 50 yards so it shouldn't be a problem for rabbits.

You bet it will kill a rabbit. Shoot or the head, or just behind the shoulder. Rabbits are very delicate and easily dispatched with either the .177 or the .22 caliber.

as far as I know the Beeman X2 only comes in single-shot (its a spring loaded action).

All the break action air rifles are single shots... you break and barrel and reload after each shot. Range? I've always zeroed at 25-yards for the .22 calibers, and 40-yards with the .177. Because of its higher velocity and slightly better ballistic coefficient the .177 shoots flatter. Maximum range with holdover has long been 40-yards for the .22, and 50-yards for the .177.

Use the .22 for small and medium fowl, and the .177 for small furry game. It's counter-intuitive, but the smaller pellet is better for fur because of its penetration, while the .22 is far better for birds because of its "slap" on impact.

Question

What's the trigger like on this rifle?

How heavy or light is the trigger? Is it adjustable? Does it have a long pull or short pull and does it break cleanly?

The trigger is a 2-stage adjustable, and it really isn't that heavy. I personally like this trigger, it works well for me. The second stage kind of keeps you guessing, but you get used to it. I haven't even adjusted mind yet.
