No, this unit is only a deep cleaner. It can be used on bare floors with the bare floor tool (part# 203-5639 that can be purchased at www.bissell.com), but you should consult your flooring manufacturer for your specific floor type.

I used this cleaner on a Frieze type carpet and it worked wonders! It would probably work pretty good on shorter carpet types as well! The instruction manual that came with the cleaner had instructions for a hardwood floor piece (that was not included with our cleaner though).

That depends on how much water you use. For normal carpet that didn't have stains it took less than an hour and for the heavily stained areas it took about 4 hours for it to be entirely dry.

Hi Kim, the unit is easy to assemble all you will need is a Phillips head screw driver. The only thing that needs assembly is the handle which requires you to screw in three screws to hold the handle in place.

I would definatly recommend this item to you for pet stains first. I spray resolve that you can use for stains on clothes on any pet stains or just stains and wait about 10 minutes. I then shampoo with wal mart brand carpet pet cleaner. Works like a charm. Good luck:)
