I would definatly recommend this item to you for pet stains first. I spray resolve that you can use for stains on clothes on any pet stains or just stains and wait about 10 minutes. I then shampoo with wal mart brand carpet pet cleaner. Works like a charm. Good luck:)

I used this cleaner on a Frieze type carpet and it worked wonders! It would probably work pretty good on shorter carpet types as well! The instruction manual that came with the cleaner had instructions for a hardwood floor piece (that was not included with our cleaner though).

That depends on how much water you use. For normal carpet that didn't have stains it took less than an hour and for the heavily stained areas it took about 4 hours for it to be entirely dry.

Question

Will it take smells out along with dirt?

I just moved into a rental house. I didn't notice it when I first looked at the place, but after I moved in, i started to notice a SMELL - Verizon guy said there was the stench of cats in the house, but I have no idea what it is, 'cause I've never had a cat. Anyway, I've been successful at eliminating that smell in the rest of the house, BUT the bedroom is the only room with carpet, and the smell is still in there - it stinks! I've shampooed - with cans - the carpet in the bedroom 4 times since I moved in - month and a half ago - but I cannot get rid of that smell. The carpet in the bedroom also gets dirty VERY easily, so I actually JUST tonight purchased this Bissell, but now somebody's telling me nothing will get the smell out short of ripping up the carpet and sanding the floors, etc. - which I can't do 'cause I'm renting. He also said steam cleaning will make the smell worse! I'm just wondering if this Bissell - since it is deep cleaning - will rid the bedroom of the SMELL along with the dirt???

no, once a cat urine odor is in your carpet, not much will eliminate it completely. If you can visually see stains, you can try injecting vinegar with a syringe right into the stain and that is supposed to get rid of the urine odor.,

I have had cats before and I know of the smell you speak of. I don't know if the Bissell will get the smell out completely. I would try using the cleaner for pets and pet odors. I saw it at Walmart next to the carpet cleaners. Bissell makes it so it's safe for your cleaner. They also have cleaners with scents in them. I have the spring breeze one. Maybe try the pet odor one first and then use the scented one. Hope this works for you!

Absolutely! Also they make different types/scents to use in the tank too so you can always try a different scent as well to help:)

I bought this because I signed a lease for an apartment where I felt the past renter had a dog. It did pull the odor out that is why I am so impressed by this cleaner. The brushes lifted out the dog hair that was not visible on the carpet's surface. When I saw this I was very glad I cleaned the carpet before I moved my furniture in. The next day the rooms were fresh and the apartment had no trace of pet odor! I poured down baking soda and carpet deodorizer then vaccuumed. I am ready to move in with confidence!

Best thing would be to remove the carpet, but since you are renting you may want to contact your landlord.

No, this is a shampooer which uses hot water. It holds one quart of hot water and a little shampoo. We use Bissell shampoo since it will not harm the machine with use. There are small steamers available, however this machine is so small and light, it seems to work well. We have carpet 10 years old and no spots anywhere. We cover our carpet though with rugs and plastic on the stairs.
