Coming from someone who has been frying turkey's the old fashioned way for years (gas burners and huge pots), peanut oil is by far the best for flavor. You can use any oil that has a high heat tolerance, but peanut oil makes the meat taste better. Check around for the best prices. Lowes, Walmart, Home Depot. Your local - non chain grocery store may have it in smaller amounts because most places want to sell you a $30 box full when you wont need that much. It is re-usable so when you finish drain it, strain it and save it for next turkey. You can get at least 3 or four uses from the oil as long as you don't burn it.
