You should be able to connect to any wife network available. But why would you want to transmit sensitive data over an open network? All one has to do is sniff your Netflix or Bank Account passwords and drain you dry. I highly recommend getting your own passworded connection.

This can connect to any Wi-Fi AP (Access Point) - it can connect to 802.11 n, 802.11g or 802.11b networks.

This unit connects via wi-fi. You do not require any special apps to connect. If there is a broadcasting signal within your area, then you will be able to connect. The quality of the streaming will depend on the signal strength of the broadcasting signal.

It doesn't have a Web browser. However it does have support for many Social Media Apps (Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, Flickr#, and also offers a lot of current online web content - presented as Apps) for examples: News, Weather, and other topical content.

Question

I hate the remote that came with this wifi streaming media player. I have googled and can not find the code that I need to be able to use a universal remote. Can someone please help me out? I read that someone did use a universal remote for this device.

You should be able to use a universal remote that has a "learning" function. You set up the remote to be programmed and point the two remotes at each other then press any button on the original remote, then whatever button you'd like to use for that button on the universal remote. This function can be used for any type of remote, even ceiling fans!

Currently there are no known universal remotes that will work. If you are unhappy with the remote, then send an email to rcasupport@1800customersupport.com and they will send you a different remote.

This is only a personal response, but I wouldn't recommend anything less than 802.11G+(108Mbps) or 802.11N(150-450Mbps). Your internet connections spds. will vary based on service provider, but 5-10Mbps DL should probably suffice. We currently pay for 12Mbps with no latency issues.

In order to get a decent quality video stream from this device you would want a minimum of 3.0mps any slower and you might experience slow playback and buffering. It also varies on the type of router you have for the wireless signal and the distance between your device and the wireless router. You can get an idea of how fast your internet is in general by going to http://speedtest.net/ and click "Begin Test". Again this test will give you a general idea of what your working with. It does not take into account the wireless part and the distance factor.

Question

Question about connection to TV. I have 1 HDMI connection on my TV and it is already being used to connect to my cable digital box to get digital

TV channels. Since I do not have a second HDMI connection can I still use this product to stream in Netflix movies? My TV does have unused analog AV connections in the back. Can I connect it to the analog AV connections and still get good Netflix streaming movies?

I think so. We have no HDMI connection on our TV (older model) and my husband hooked it up through the VCR.

You can also buy an HDMI Switch and connect both the cable box and the RCA box. This allows you to switch between the two and still have the benefit of HDMI. I ran into the same problem and found that solution.

Question

Adding another for my bedroom TV.

If I add a another box in another room, will I have have to pay Netflix another $8 for that box or since I already have the Netflix service, my only cost to use it in the bedroom would be the RCA unit itself for that second RCA box or have to pay Netflix another $8 for each RCA unit that I use?

Netflix only charges a one-time charge of $7.99 for unlimited streaming on unlimited devices. There use to be a limit of 6 devices, but since they made all their recent changes they now allow unlimited devices. I have a total of 3 Wiis, 1 Xbox, 3 Blu-Ray players, 3 iPod Touches, 2 iPads, 1 Coby Tablet, 3 Desktop PCS, 3 data cellphones and now 1 RCA Media player connected to my Netflix account for $7.99. ENJOY. :-)

You shouldn't have to. We ran a test once we got Netflix running on our TV and tried to run another movie on our computer in the other room. It worked. I'm ordering a second box as soon as they're back in stock.

We have 2 of these, and only pay the original $8.00 dollars. You just sign into your netflix account when you get connected.

Wi-Fi signals may be blocked or impaired by other electronics components or metal objects. We recommend you don’t locate the Player in locations that might shield it from your Wi-Fi signal.
You also need to reset your router.

Place the media player higher then where you have it. I had my media player initially on the bottom shelf near by blu ray player, I moved it to same level as TV and the obtaining IP address instantly moved to SUCCESS!
