No. Just plug in, heats up via metal slab that the rollers rest on. Little tab on one of the jumbo rollers turns from pink to clear when its heated to capacity. Takes less than 5 min to heat up.

answer 1
The jumbo rollers are a good size but if you have a lot of hair or if your hair is thick you will have to use small strands of hair for each roller because they don't hold much hair. They tend to roll off. So if you have thick hair you are going to have to use many rollers to roll your hair.

No. These would probably be perfect. I have same length & like these because I like big curls, not tiny ones. Leave in a few mins longer for tighter curls, less time for just body. I love em. Leave your hair shiny & polished. Love the foam wrapped rollers & the ceramic core in them. They heat up immed. & it's a quick in/out in your hair.

Biggest challenge will be getting your hair to "stick" around the curlers without burning your fingers. My hair is about the same length as yours, and I find the curlers don't hold real tight.

The wire clips are not that great but I bought the jaw clips at Sally Beauty Supply store (or you can order on line at sallybeauty.com) and they were $6 and they worked great with these rollers. Kept the rollers in place..Hope that helps. Sorry I don't have a picture of them

No, it does not and a lot of reviewers complained about that. I just put mine in a small plastic bag. I would also suggest you buy plastic jaw clips. The metal clips that come with this set were not effective in holding in the roller. You can buy Conair jaw clips on Amazon.

Until they are cool. Remove from hair, let hair cool, spray lightly with hairspray, run your fingers through your hair.

The longer you leave them in, the more curl you get. If you use hair spray on each roller after you get them rolled, the effect will last even longer. I leave them in until they are cool to the touch.

answer 3
It depends on hair type and if u place product in it. I have thick long hair so i like to add heat protector to my hair so its no so frizzy then hairspray. But then I brush it through and start rolling my hair. After im done I wait about 30minutes. Flip my head a couple times and I'm done so I spray more hairspray to finish. My daughter has really fine hair so with her I spray every strand before I roll and leave them in for about 45 minutes or longer the spraY her hair after I take the curler out.

answer 5
I leave them in until they are completely cool, usually around 15-20 minutes. I put the rollers in first and then do all of my makeup, usually by the time I am done putting on my makeup the rollers are cool. Just remove the rollers and run your fingers thru curls and spray, do not brush or comb, you will brush/comb out all of your curls. These rollers are more for just body and big hair mainly.

Definitely use these rollers with dry hair. In fact, put some product in your hair first, like mousse or root pump. Blow dry hair, then use the rollers. These rollers get very hot. Using them with wet hair might damage them, as well as your hair. You would also not get any curl.

I would not recommend using these on wet hair. Your hair should be completely dry for best results. I think it would damage your hair if it was wet, and you would be wasting your time rolling wet hair.

I think so. You'll get volume, if not curl. After you roll your hair, spray a cloud of hair spray over your head to make the curl set longer. Leave them in as long as you can. The jumbos (4), are really big. The other 8 (large) should be just right.

Question

Does the heat damage the hair?

Does this roller set use moisture or dry heat? Will these heated rollers dry out and damage my hair the way an electric curling iron does? I've been using a wand-type of iron and want something that will not dry out my hair and make the ends break off so badly.

This is a dry heat - the rollers are flocked, which is why they remove most frizz from the hair. They definitely will not do as much damage as a curling iron.

answer 2
Dry heat and these rollers will be so much better for your hair than the iron, if after you take your rollers down you can go over some of the curls to loosen if needed with the iron, just hold on hair for a few secs.

I would say No. Not at all. Because I normally use curling irons and it damage my hair and looks dry every time I use it. This one is not so hot. But keep the warmness in your hair. It also shine right after I have done using.

answer 6
This set uses dry heat. These rollers will not dry out your hair. If you have dry and broken hair you should get a good hair cut. Nothing will help your split end get better.I like using the hot rollers because you can do other things once you get the rollers in. Also I do my hair every other day and the curls stay. That will also help to keep your hair healthy. So get a good hair cut and leave the curling iron in the draw and start rolling. I think you will be happy to see the great styles you can get from the hot rollers.Good luck, have with your hair.
