I've yet to hear a flat panel TV that really impressed me with it's sound. With that being said, this Hisense has very acceptable audio. We have a fairly large living room (28'x14') and the TV audio by itself isn't an issue, although for stuff like movies and video games we usually use our home stereo system. The TV does have a user adjustable equalizer, which is nice to tweak the TV audio a bit. Like my dad used to say..."you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear" and you aren't going to get theater quality sound from speakers in a TV 1.5" thick.

It's Netflix and their server issues but they will never admit it.
Unpluggin/rebooting your modem and router for 30 seconds + from time to time is good practice -helps with streaming issues ( and PC internet)

answer 2
There is nothing wrong with the LAN/WLAN, I have the TV connected to a Asus RT-N16 (an over powered router) and 6 Mbps DSL. Netflix works fine on most selections, it's certain selections that cause this issue. The issue is not a buffering issue but a software/firmware problem.

The average bitrate of an HD Netflix selection is much less than an HDX vudu selection which my network and this television will stream fine.

I have no issue wired or wireless, it is most definitely something software related.

The Netflix software begins crashing once a certain bitrate is achieved, this certain bitrate is only achieved on a limited amount of Netflix HD selections.

My tv is doing the same exact thing! I bought this tv mainly just to stream netflix but after about 30 seconds it pauses has to re-load and just freezes the tv. I have a 22 inch smart tv that i put right next to the Hisense tv and tried playing my netflix and it worked flawlessly. So now I know it's definitely something wrong with this tv. I will be returning it!

Yes and you verified my question. I have the exact same issue, it will likely be resolved in a firmware update. A temporary resolution is to lower the quality settings of Netflix to the middle setting, this can be done by logging into the Netflix website and locating the settings (upper right portion of screen by your name).

Sorry to hear your problem, but I can't say that's normal. We watch Netflix streaming quite a bit and haven't had any buffering issues with this TV. Our TV is about 35 feet away from our wireless router in a different room and Netflix still works fine. I would return the TV for a new one, as it sounds like something isn't right with the bulit-in wifi LAN adapter in the TV.

Question

Does this unit have audio out I can send to my AV receiver?

If I'm watching ota broadcasts is there a way to feed 5.1 surround to my Denon 1612? Most tvs have a "optical out" for this purpose. Does it do this with "ARC" or is there another option?

I dont think it had an optical out, but I may be wrong. I think the only audio outs are a digital audio out (rca/composite type - not left/right, red/white, only one orange digital out) also it has an 1/8" stereo (headphone type) out. with a $4 dollar 1/8" to rca cord you could get stereo sound and surround if your receiver has that option.

This tv uses a coaxial (rca)digital cable for audio out. I was a bit surprised there was no optical out, but most receivers, dvd players and such have coaxial audio jacks.
