Questions & Answers for George George Women's Plus-Size Classic Career Blazer

Question

What size should I buy?

I usually wear the size 14W-16W in regular tops, short or long sleeve. I do wear even larger sizes in jackets/outerwear. What size does anyone suggest I buy the blazer in that won't be too snug or too large for me ?

Thanks :)

I would guess you might have already bought a jacket by this point, but I'll answer in case there is someone else out there with the same question. I normally wear a 16W-20W (depends a lot on the shirt and material). I also buy larger sized jackets, because I don't like my jackets to be too snug. I bought a blazer in a 22W size, and it fits wonderfully. The sleeves aren't too long, and the blazer hits me right below my hips (much like the picture). And most importantly, it's not snug. Plenty of room. :-)

I would buy the next size up, in case of shrinkage. It seems most clothes shrink some these days, that's why I "line dry" a lot of my clothes.
I ordered my regular shirt size, and realized I need to reorder the next size up, because I like my jackets a little on the loose side, not snug.
You can always reorder too, if it doesn't fit:)

I would suggest a size 20 because like most blazers, it does not run too big

Nissal, If you will be wearing this blazer in the cooler months, I would suggest getting an 18W so you will have room for a sweater or heavier fabric top. Hope this helps you decide on the correct size.

I wear a 16w but went one size up to wear a turtleneck under the blazer. The size difference was not that much larger. Very pleased and comfortable with the fit and product.

George Career Blazer, Size 26: 24in sleeve, 27 in. back length (nape of neck to bottom of pleat.) This is a well constructed garment. The fabric is nice quality. Note...the pockets (real) open a little high up. Not recommended for true tall sized woman.

The sleeves are normal length. I have short arms so I have to fold the sleeve back about an inch but it still looks good.

I ordered a large size (I think 22) because I need a large diameter sleeve. As a result, the sleeve is maybe an inch too long at the wrist/hand. This is not the fault of the jacket just my Scot-Irish body!

There are two front pockets. Their openings are sewn shut, but I think you can open them, as it feels like material for the pocket is within the lining.

answer 4
Yes, but the quality may cause the pocket area to sag if you take the stitching out to open them up. Besides, ladies should never stand with their hands in their pockets anyway :-)

answer 5
Yes, it does. However when I got mine, they were sewn shut. It wasn't hard to undo the thread with my fingers. The ends of the pockets have a slot that's big enough to poke a finger through to help loosen up the thread.

does it requires dry cleaning or it is machine washable?

Instructions say machine wash in cold water on delicate and tumble dry on low, use low iron, or dry clean. The fabric is like a rich garberdine with a polyester lining. If it were me, I would wash in cold water on delicate but not put it in the dryer. Dry it on a hanger. For the price, I'd take a chance. It looks like it cost a lot more.

Hi colorlover823,
Yes, there is a missy version of this George Blazer (sizes 4-18). If you put the following model number into the search function you will find it easily, model # GLLNS6955. Otherwise you can just look in the Women's Jackets & Outerwear section and you will find it that way too. Hope this helps!
