It does not. The propane tank must be purchased separately.

answer 3
No it does not. I don't think any grill ever comes with one. Depending where you are...$50 for your first tank and $20-$25 each time you exchange it. I bought two tanks, but we use ours whenever it isn't raining. You only need two tanks if you plan on constant use(only cause it isn't a great day to discover you have run out of propane...)

The grill does not come with a propane tank, you must purchase it on your own. To be honest, I have not used that side of the grill yet, I always use the charcoal side for grilling steaks and chicken.

We got the Backyard Grill 68" cover, and it fits fine. There's about 8" exposed at the bottom. Width and depth are roomy but not too much so. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=19528741

Question

Has anyone else had difficulty getting the lids to stay open on this unit?

As a "remedy," I insert a block of wood in the gap in the back between the lid and grill to keep it open. However, there has to be a better solution.

answer 2
Ahh, yes. Wish I had remembered that in my review. Not the easiest lids to keep open. I haven't had to resort to a prop up solution like you did though. Just takes a level surface and practice to keep them open. If you open them all the way, shockingly the "hinge stress" swings it back shut. But when you figure out the 95-98% "open", they'll stay open.

One or more of the hinges maybe backward. look at them closely and check the directions. It does specifiy which one goes on the lid and which one goes on the grill.

I contacted the manufacturer (phone number and e-mail address are in the instruction manual) and after e-mailing them pictures of my problem and verification of purchase, they are sending me replacement hinges at no additional cost.

If anybody else has a similar, or any kind of problem with this grill, I encourage them to do the same. The Customer Service personnel are very helpful and friendly.

answer 3
You can use the gas side burner to start your charcoal in a charcoal starter can (some folks call it a Chimeney) instead of using newspaper. Then you don't have all the paper ashes blowing all over your food. And it lights the charcoal up faster than the newspaper does.
answered 2 years, 5 months ago
By

answer 4
No these are seperate boxes. you would have to start the charcoal in the gas box and move it back to the charcoal side--not safe or practical. Just crumple up a little newspaper slightly dampned with cooking oil, to produce a long burn that will start the charcoal without the chemicals of lighter fluid.

answer 5
No the charcoal side is charcoal only. I am sure you could convert the gas to charcoal but that would defeat the reason of buying a dual grill in the first place.

I contacted the manufacturer, as I had the same question, and yes, it is indeed for using a match to light the grill should you wish to use that option.

answer 4
Yes, I actually bought the grill and then wondered what it was for. I think I have figured it out. I think that it is used to help light the gas grill with a match if the grill won't light. The match slips between the two coils on the end and then you can use it to light the grill without having to get too close to the flames.

short answer - not in my opinion. there are ways around that however. if it is a smaller roast and your don't mind using a small amount of charcoal on one side, it could probably work, but you may have to tend to the charcoal more often then we are use to.

I would think so. If you remove the heating grate. Which is VERY easy to do. You should have no problem. Depending on the size of the roast.

Most gas burners these days have a red ignition button. Turn the gas on and press the red ignition button rapidly untill the flame starts, however I always use matches. Buy a box of stick matches, turn the gas on low, strike a match and throw it down to the bottom. just becarefull that you dont let the gas leak for too long or it will flare up in your face.

answer 2
Hope you figured it out already, but for others. The charcoal side is narrower(6 inches I think) and the grates for the propane side are too wide for the charcoal side. You'll figure it out by either stacking the grates on top of each other, or trying to put them in the charcoal side first. Only the correct two will fit the charcoal side. You can't even fit "one of each" in the charcoal side.
