Depends on the size of the house. I can use it in my basement and be on the 3rd floor. My house is about 1500sq ft but I'm normally right above the area the monitor is and not the opposite side of the house

It should work. We have a 6,000 sq ft home. The kids are on the top floor and I hear them beautifully on the first floor level.

They have a 1,000 foot radius.

Basically this should be possible but, it depends upon the house construction.

You may have problems if floor is made of concrete and steel.

I wouldn't guarantee that. In know it works between a first and second floor, but it's doubtful that it could transmit between all the floors.

Yes it's the first one that worked in my basement after trying 3 others.

Probably, but you would have to purchase and try it in your environment to be certain. Keep the original packaging/receipt in case it doesn't work and you want to return it for a refund.

I would think "maybe" If floors are wood, maybe. If poured concrete, doubtful. Would think like unable to get a wireless phone to work in some structures. Works fine to the basement in my one story frame home, out into a yard storage building. or to the attached garage.

You can do both. It comes with 3 adapters and 2 rechargeable batteries (since baby unit is supposed to be plugged in at all times).

The baby unit must be always plugged in (no battery). The parent unit(s) are normally plugged in, but can be unplugged and used on internal battery for short periods (a couple of hours?). If the baby unit loses power, the parent unit will sound an alarm (a GOOD feature).

Is there a way to have 2 baby units and 2 parent units so you can hear 2 different children in 2 different rooms?

We bought 2 sets that each had ONE baby unit and TWO parent units. We have two parent units in a room upstairs & two parent units in a room down stairs (One parent unit from each set), and each baby unit in separate rooms upstairs for our two different children that are each in their own rooms. So far that has worked out for us.

I don't believe that's possible as the two stations have to be kinked and they can only link to one base at a time.

answer 3
In theory that should work. You pair the parent unit to a specific child unit so it should know which unit to monitor.

Michelle - You would need to buy a DM221 system and use it independently of the DM221-2 you already own. Thanks!

How to turn off transmitting unit off alarm?

We would like to leave the listening monitors on all the time and turn off the baby monitor (transmitting unit) when not in use. However, the listening units beep when the baby monitor unit is turned off as a warning. How do I disable this feature?

liz - The Baby unit runs on AC power only, so unless you move it and plug it in every time your husband moves to a different room, it wouldn't serve your purpose. Look at the SN6187 and SN6197 at walmart.com. Your husband can wear or carry the pendant, allowing the two of you to intercom back and forth. It has many more great features for the boomer population. Thanks!

Question

Can I buy the 2 parent and 1 baby monitor model and use one of the parent monitors with my preexisting baby monitor(I lost the parent monitor).

I previously owned a Vtech DM221 (I think) and lost the parent model and am now left with just a baby monitor. Can I purchase this model with 2 parent monitors and 1 baby and use my other baby monitor to have 2 working sets with a parent and a baby monitor?

I don't see that would be a problem but I would suggest taking your unit to the store (with a charged battery) and make sure it will link.

There is a small possibility Vtech may have changed the 'link' channels between an earlier and current base, better still speak with Vtech support.

Dan - Each set has a unique link between baby and parent units, so taking one of the parent units and trying to link it with a baby unit from a different set will not work. Thanks!
