It includes unlimited web data: the first 1GB will download at 3G speed but after that will slow to 2G, but you will continue to have data, but ata lower speed. You can buy data to have more GBs with more speed.
BUT NO ROAMING DATA IS ALLOWED IN DIFFERENT STATE!!!!

You can port your telephone number in when you activate your SIM card using the activation kit you buy for $25. at the Walmart store. If you need or want a new number one would be given to you by the activations system or representative a the store or on the phone.

The phone must be unlocked and GSM, so that you can install the SIM card that comes with the started kit. I understand that you can't use Blackberry phones as they're not compatible with Family Mobile.
Cheers.

Actually, we called the customer service number and you don't have to get an activation kit for every PHONE, just for every LINE. So if you're not adding a new line but you're getting a new phone, you don't need a kit.

You can but beware that if you want to transfer more than one phone number that they MUST be the same area code.

For some reason they say that their system is not updated enough to handle more than one area code per account.

I don' work for Walmart but I read in their product literature that when you buy the STarter Kit - You can call them or get online, and when you do your activation, just give them your OLD NUMBER and ask them to transfer it to your new phone.

Just MAKE CERTAIN the person answering your call speaks and Understands your ENGLISH. FAMILY MOBILE says it's powered by T-mobile MOBILITY but it isn't the same company as the T-Mobile here in the USA - MOBILITY was sold off a long time ago but they still keep the T-MOBILE name because they use the same cell Network & Towers.

There is an activation process that is spelled out in the kit. You must follow those steps first before you can use talk/text.

Yes, if the phone is charged up and you activate the SIM card through the process, you will be ready to go from the second you are complete. It is a super service and very economical.

Question

So I just bought a new phone from walmart yesterday and also got the activation kit that came with the sim card, called the number...

And the phone is now activated and can receive and send calls and texts. The thing is, I haven't payed a bill yet for the service which I'm going to pay with cash in the store. I was just wondering how long I'm able to use the minutes/mms service that came with the activation kit before I need to go to the store to pay the $45.

You will be billed monthly, post-use, but there is no harm in paying for the service a little early if that fits your finances.

I found out that family mobile is post paid not prepaid and I got billed after my billing over. You get a text msg telling you the amount. But my bill was 53.55 for the $45 plan since it was post paid and not prepaid.

Android phones will work with talk/text only.

Of course, you won't have much of the functionality (like navigation, email, etc.) when not connected to WiFi.

You will get 4G service (total of all phones on your plan) of 2mg, then unlimited EDGE internet.

This will also depend on your service area, some areas get 4G while others get only EDGE while others may not get internet at all. I have had pretty good luck getting 4G most of the time.
