answer 3
I don't have a "Hugo", I have a "Drive" and once owned an off-brand - I believe they all pretty much adjust the same way though, as follows:

I take 2 pairs of pliers, then at the bottom-end of the brake-cable (near the floor) you see a small metal silver thing with ribbing on it. This item will twist/turn with pliers (be gentle) to tighten/shorten the tension on the brake-cable - or loosen/extend the brake-cable. Remember, "righty-tighty and lefty-loosey". If it just turns to no avail, then use the second pair of pliers to "hold" the other end (nearest the floor) in place, while you retry adjusting again.

Hope that helps.

answer 2
I've owned 3 different rollators (various brands), on all of them the back wheels (under the hand grips) always stay stationary - the front wheels (farthest away from you when you are walking) always swivel. It is similar to front-wheel-drive in your car - the front wheels do all the turning and back wheels just follow.

It maybe too heavy for the saddle bag and you have to remove it when you fold the walker. My husband uses portable oxygen and I put it separately in the car and then in the under the seat storage after I open the walker. A little of a hassle but doable.

14" wide side to side of the cushion, but there is some extra space beyond that. A 275 lb. patient used one.
12" from front to back.
1.5" thick.

answer 3
I don't know the exact measurements, but there are others that are a lot longer. The width is ok, but it's rather short front to back. Also the backrest is too far over the seat and you feel like it's throwing you on the floor. I have another model and the back rest is further back and the seat is longer and much more comfortable.

I recently bought a "Drive Duet" by Drive Medical company. It is super light weight and I use it as a rollator/walker but when I can not walk further, you pull the backrest bar out then flip it around facing forward, then flip down the hidden foot-rests and VOILA! The rollator now BECOMES a tranport chair so you can easily be pushed around by a helper.

My 75 year old Mother adores my Duet because my standard wheelchair weighs 46lbs so it was just too heavy for her to take me anywhere.

I had a wheelchair AND a rollator - now I just have my Duet which has a dual purpose. Perfect.

I would say about 16lbs. My husband uses this walker but I load it into the car. I'm 5'1" and have had numerous back operations and I don't have a problem loading it into the car. The only thing is you do have to balance it a little opeing and closing it since it does not stand alone.

Since they're 8 " wheels I would assume they're 8 inches wide.

It weighs about 21 LBS, which may or may not be too heavy for your purpose. My wife is the one who uses ours. She is short and rather stout, and has a lot of arthritis, but she is able to manuver it around rather well. I am the one who puts it in and out of the trunk of the car, and with a little practice I have learned the way to do it with ease. Hope this helps you in you quest. The Hugo is built and works really well.

answer 3
Some models have a round pull latch on one side of the basket hinge area that needs to be pulled outward (to the side) to release it.
Some models don't have this "lock" (to hold it shut).
Otherwise you just push the legs apart....or stand it up and hold the hand grips then push downward to spread the legs.

She probably hasn't pulled the lock open.

answer 4
I had problems with that as well. It's in the directions. The Rollator locks itself when folded up. There's a lever you have to pull on the side to make it release. Mine is red with a white center.

answer 5
There is a pull out knob&PIN on one of the hinges, just hold it pulled out while you open the hinge a little, then you can let it go. When the hinge is opened all the way, the pin will engage into another hole to help keep it open. Do the same routine when you go to close it. It is all in the instructions.

I HAVE THE SAME item. Have that family member in Arkansas call the toll free number for Hugo. HUgo offers customer service for its products. Believe HQ for the company is in Canada but they do offer a toll free number and online support. Recommend phoning the company for immediate assistance. BTW, I also bought this item on Walmart.com. I called Walmart.com about questions I had. Walmart.com NEVER got back to me with answers. The gal said she would call the company to get answers. WHO knows if she did that. I do know she never called me back. So, trust me. Contact Hugo about the Hugo Elite. I would think the toll free number would be in the manual. Certainly Hugo has a website with contact information. GOOD LUCK. My husband had a tough time unfolding it also. He rather I not use it for that reason. However, once he does unfold it, I DO like using it. Do not be shy. Contact the company and get the 'secret'.
