Yes, because the hot exhaust has to go outside. The tubing that comes with it isn't very long. Had to go to Home Depot to get a longer one.

ladylady.... not really... but how much noise is worth putting up with to be able to sit in comfort. They aren't THAT noisy if you ask me. Turn the TV up a little or go in the other room to talk on the phone when the unit is on full blast... they do cycle. At periods of down time they don't make any more noise than a kinda loud fan. If sleeping is the problem... all I can say is, ... I got used to it.... I have one in my bedroom and it actually lulls me to sleep anymore. It blocks out other noises.. lol.

Yes but I wouldn't run other heavy volt users on the same circuit like a refrigerator or a vacuum cleaner. You'll be drawing so much juice that you may set off the circuit breaker a few times during heavy use/hot days.

Yes, this can be plugged into a regular household outlet, as long as the fuse is at least 15 amps (I have a house that was built in the 70s and it plugs right in and runs well).

Yes but you need a three prong outlet or an adapter
answered 2 years, 4 months ago
By
Dale3521
answer 10
Yes Cyn, this unit plugs right into any wall plug. You need to have at least a 15 amp breaker on the circuit you plug into... But if the 15 amp outlet is wired into the same circuit you are using for a lot of other big draw items like your fridge.... you may need to get an electrician to upgrade that circuit to at least a 20 amp breaker. This is not a major expense and worth it if you don't have many other options for A/C ing your home. Call around and tell them what you need to do and see if maybe someone will do this for you on the cheap..... use that womanly charm. Also be sure you have a window close to that plug that is the sliding type window.... the kit that comes with these only works in the ones that slide up and down or across. If you have the one that slides across you need to be sure the kit will cover the up and down measurements of that window.

answer 6
It depends on the humidity level where you live. I live in Denver, which has low humidity, and haven't had any extra condensation. The unit says that it evaporates the condensation automatically out of the exhaust hose. I have checked the drain plug several times and not had any water drops. To be safe, you can install the A/C on a raised platform so you can put a bucket underneath it. The unit does come with a short plastic/rubber hose...maybe 10" long. The drain plug is small...maybe 1/4" or so in diameter.

Question

how cool does it go? Temp range?

I am looking for an air conditioner to cool a storage room where I have extra food (grains and beans). Looking for an air conditioner that goes (hopefully) below 60 degrees.
What is the range of this one?
If this one doesn't go very low, what other options do you have?

You can probably get your room below 60 deg. (depending on the size of the room) by using the "follow me" function. that puts the thermostatic control at the remote, then just keep the remote outside the area you are cooling, you just have to place the remote where it can still comunicate with the unit.

The water self evaporates unless you use the unit on "de-humidify" only and then they supply a drip hose you can insert to collect the water or drain it. I use it purely as an AC unit to cool my house and i have not had any water drip from the machine.

The water go into a pan at the bottom if necessary; if used as a dehumidifier a hose must be connected and container provided to catch water. It operates like air conditioners that are in most hotels.

Take the piece of clear tubing that attaches to the top drain to the hardware store as an example and get at least 5ft. Then get a 5 gallon paint bucket for the hose to drain into. check every day. I then just use to water plants or just throw out on lawn.

It evaporates out of the exhaust hose automatically. Or you can put a container underneath it to collect any water that might be left over. If you choose to do the second option, you will need to install it on a raised platform so a container can fit under it.
