This unit does actually have a 1-tuner PiP system. PiP 1-tuner systems only allow for one cable connection to be shown at a time on the screen. In order to connect it up, you will need a hard line going into the TV (cable coax) and an active secondary connection (HDMI, component, PC). To activate it up, either head into the TV's menu or click the Tools button on the remote control.

Again, you will need both a coax connection and a secondary input connection in order to properly activate and view PiP on your set. If your option is grayed out, this means that one of the required connections is not active and connected properly.

Question

QWERTY Remote or Keyboard or Mouse? ( too difficult to navigate )

Hi,
Received my Samsung 5300 SMART TV. But, its too annoying and frustrating to navigate while operating in a browser or while searching and typing movie titles or so in Netflix or youtube using the current standard remote.

Is there a wireless keyboard which supports to the TV?
Is there a wireless Mouse supporting this TV?

Any other options you would recommend to use this smart TV than just relying on the standard remote?
Basically, i dont want to spend 3-4 mins to type a 3-4 words in the browser.

Thanks in Advance.

You can connect wireless keyboard and mouse to 5300 Smart TV. It works great in web browser and various other places.

But few places where their is small keypad displayed (like netflixs search) it works only with combination of navigation keys and enter. Still overall it works and support you to great extent instead of playing around with your remote.

Suggestion: Use Wireless keyboard with touch pad embedded to have everything in 1 USB connection.

Although the 2011 QWERTY remotes will not be compatible with the 2012 model TVs, nor is a QWERTY remote offered for 2012, the UN40ES6100 will offer compatibility with a traditional standard USB keyboard and mouse, but it will not offer support for wireless peripherals.

The short answer here is NO - this unit does not have a CableCARD slot. This is based on the answer that Samsung supplied. While I would prefer it if Samsung's answer had specifically answered the question, I do appreciate the detail in their answer. It is helpful for the unit to have a QAM tuner in addition to over-the-air tuner. There are very few HDTVs that have CableCARD slots.

answer 2
Not a problem. I'll be more than happy to answer your question! All current generation Samsung TVs are digital cable and Antenna ready. All of our TVs include a coax ATSC/QAM tuner that handles digital and analogue broadcast signals as well, although none of the Samsung TVs will support Cable Cards. No external boxes or equipment needed (besides the coax cable itself) to view your basic cable. However, an antenna is required for over the air broadcasts. Premium service may require additional equipment and fees. Please contact your service provider for details.

Absolutely! In order to access the timer, you will want to head into the TV's menu, then into the setup sub-menu. Once there head into the time option, and you should see the timer setup. Also you can press the "Tools" button on your remote to bring up the mini menu where you can easily select the sleep timer settings.

you only need a router if you are connecting to something wirelessly. so if the smart tv has an ethernet port and you dont want to connect a laptop to your internet wirelessly, then you dont need a router.
