Yes, community college qualifies. Microsoft says that full and part time, enrolled university students and faculty in accredited institutions; including junior college, university, vocational school, scientific or technical school are eligible.

In regard to submitting proof:

You will be required to verify your eligibility online to use this software.

Go to www.office.com/verify and enter the PIN located inside the package.

Log on with your Windows Live ID, or create one using any email address.

Provide your school email address or logon, or international student identity card (ISIC).

You can read more about the program and requirements at http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.LearnMore?Icid=Student_Main_LearnMore

Hope this helps.

I am enrolled in our local community college taking non-accredited classes. I tried to purchase the software today at the bookstore but was told I do not qualify as you have to be earning at least .50 credits. They only give out a school email address when you are enrolled in accredited courses. You need the school email address to prove you are enrolled in school. Here is the process:
Office University 2010 does not come with a product key. Your eligibility will be verified online before completing purchase. This product will not work without successful verification as you will not have a product key.
You will be required to verify your eligibility online to use this software. 1.Go to www.office.com/verify.
2.Sign in with your Windows Live ID or create one using any email address. 3.Provide your school email address, sign-in ID, or international student identity card (ISIC).
Once you pass verification, the online site displays the product key.

You will need a valid college email address as proof, since that is where the product activation code will be sent.
The Microsoft Office FAQ's answer is: "Full and part time, enrolled university and college students and faculty in accredited institutions. Alumni of these institutions are ineligible. Australia and New Zealand eligibility: Full and part time, enrolled students and teaching staff of accredited tertiary institutions (including universities and TAFEs). Alumni of these institutions are ineligible."

If you mean faculty, then the answer is yes. Other staff would not be eligible. Microsoft defines eligibility as follows:

Full and part time, enrolled university and college students and faculty in accredited institutions.

As far as I can tell, you can't verify it until after you purchase it by going to the website office.com/verify and putting in the PIN that comes in the box. But, if you can't give a valid college email address, you won't be able to activate the product and it will be worthless to you...

The approval process actually takes place after you purchase. Just make sure you are eligible before you purchase because there are no refunds.

Here is the eligibility verification process (from this web page):

The academic verification and redemption process occurs online after and separate from the purchase.

Student verification will take place exclusively through the Microsoft Academic Verification Engine during the verification process.

Full and part time, enrolled university and college students and faculty in accredited institutions. Alumni of these institutions are not eligible.

Customers will be subject to the Office University EULA and will be required to agree to the agreement before activating the product.

Each eligible user can verify only one Office University product in a 12-month period.

Microsoft's policy is 1 User/2 PCs. Specifically, Microsoft Office University 2010 is licensed for one eligible user on one primary and one portable PC. In other words, it's licensed to be installed on one desktop and one laptop.

Question

I am a student working full time and taking a course - evenings. I don’t have an email thru the community college, Will I qualify?

I am a student working full time and taking a course - evenings. I don’t have an email thru the community college, Will I qualify? If yes…… how/can I verify ….so that, I am able to use the complete software package?
The community does not issue college ID for evening students taking classes. When I did register, I only received a receipt that I said paid for that course for the two evening.
Thanks
