answer 5
Like most vacuums, it does not do well on bare floors. Another reviewer suggested a great idea: Use a broom to sweep into a corner of the floor, then use the vacuum wand to pick up the sweepings. That works very well! There is a bare floors-to-variable carpet pile mechanism.

As for noise: I'm surprised how little there is. Of course there is some noise, but it is the least noisy I've owned yet. Not since my grandmother's Electrolux pull-behind tube have I found anything that I would call "quiet." I'm sensitive about the noise of vacuums, and this one is the easiest to take that I've found in the price range.

answer 12
It offers five height options. Even at the highest it maintains great suction. My bag less vacuum would roll over bathroom rugs on the highest level with no problem. This one is still so strong it sucks the rugs too much to use on them. I wouldn't recommend for bare floors due to the dirt the brush kicks back. I use my Bissell 3in1 which works awesome on our hardwoods.

It is quieter than my Eureka bag less. I actually wish it were a tad louder because noisy vacuuming helps my baby fall asleep.

Question

what about pet hair --

I bought a pet hair eraser bagless -- spend more time unclogging the dirt path, removing the cyclone thingy, etc than I do vacuuming. It's heavy and static electricity is downright scary. Emptying the dirt cup is gross! And the pet hair mostly stays on the carpet. How does this unit do with pet hair?

Bought this 2 months ago at the store to try as a back up. Have used it since almost everyday instead of my main vac to try it out. Picks up my dog's short hair nearly as well as my Eureka Boss and I have had no clogs even letting the bag get pretty stuffed full with hair. Pet hair does cling to the new shiny plastic.

answer 9
I have 3 cats and so obviously pet hair is a concern. After just using a few times, it seams to do well sucking it up. But when I laid it down and looked at the bottom, there was cat hair stuck to all the plastic surfaces from the static electricity. I am just going to take a wet paper towel and wipe it off after I use it, just so it doesn't build up or blow off and back onto the floor. I'm glad I didn't get one of those sweepers that has a "pet hair strip" on the front because all they do is fill up in 2 seconds and then are useless. This one just attracts it because of the static electricity. I think your gonna have that problem no matter what vac you use.

We have whiteish carpet and two black cats, it works good. It's nice because you can just toss the bag away and replace it, no need to have the icky canister to dump. I'm impressed with this vacuum, inexpensive and works good. Cord is kinda short though. I have never had any trouble with mine.

My sister-in-law has one of these vacuums and three cats. She's very satisfied with how little clogging there is. I've noticed that there is a lot of suction, which cuts down on clogging possibilities. We don't have animals, but we do have two women with beautiful, long hair. So far, (about three weeks) no clogs.

answer 5
If you do not keep up with scraping out around the bottom of the vacuum between the void area around the brushes and keep the brushes clean, then yes, it will get clogged. I just threw this vacuum away, because it finally lost all possibility of suction after about 2 years of use and a few minor fixes. It is a good enough for the price vacuum. I would love to buy a Dyson, but the price, while it makes sense, is still outrageous to me.

Hope that helps.

I just bought the DURABELT Vacuum Belts Bissell 7,9,10,12,14, & 16 belts, item #64007, package of 2 at Walmart store and the belt fits and works. The DURABELT package does not list the Bissell Powerforce model # 71Y7 series which is this vacuum, but does list other Bissell Powerforce series. I could not find any other belts, and I assume if Walmart is going to carry this popular vac, they will also carry belts for it.
The Bissell rep will tell you to only buy genuine Bissell belts, of course.

Only partially. You have to attach the top handle to the bottom vacuum. But it isn't hard to do. You will need a standard sized Phillips-head screwdriver to attach the handle to the body, and to tighten the hose end to the machine. If you have trouble doing this, you might get a niece, nephew, neighbor to do it for you. It is quite simple.

Really well. Bought one months ago for a back up and find myself using it more than my main vac for quick daily vacuuming of my dog's short hair.
This little cheap Bissell is almost as good as my very good main vac and easier and lighter to get out and get the job done. Have had no clogs or loss of suction with the hair, even re-using bags once and letting them get pretty full. The Bissell is easy to maintain, the only problem is it is made of light shiny plastic that my dog's white hair clings to easily but that's gotten better over time.

No, not the one in the 3rd picture. It just comes with an attachment that has bristles but not one that has an roller that turns. That is kinda deceptive that they have it in the third picture. I don't use that ever so I don't mind.
