answer 5
Like most vacuums, it does not do well on bare floors. Another reviewer suggested a great idea: Use a broom to sweep into a corner of the floor, then use the vacuum wand to pick up the sweepings. That works very well! There is a bare floors-to-variable carpet pile mechanism.

As for noise: I'm surprised how little there is. Of course there is some noise, but it is the least noisy I've owned yet. Not since my grandmother's Electrolux pull-behind tube have I found anything that I would call "quiet." I'm sensitive about the noise of vacuums, and this one is the easiest to take that I've found in the price range.

answer 12
It offers five height options. Even at the highest it maintains great suction. My bag less vacuum would roll over bathroom rugs on the highest level with no problem. This one is still so strong it sucks the rugs too much to use on them. I wouldn't recommend for bare floors due to the dirt the brush kicks back. I use my Bissell 3in1 which works awesome on our hardwoods.

It is quieter than my Eureka bag less. I actually wish it were a tad louder because noisy vacuuming helps my baby fall asleep.

Yes, I just got this one and it came with 1 Febreeze bag already installed but that is it. And the Febreeze stuff is really nothing to get excited about. It's literally like a little business card on the back side of the BAG that you just pull this little tab that tears open the front of this plastic wrapping that is around the card. The card is sprayed with Febreeze. That's all it is. You could literally make one by just spraying Febreeze on a card and taping it to the bag.

As soon as I use the 1 Febreeze bag that came with the sweeper, it will be an "Arm & Hammer" Bissell Powerforce because I will then be using the A&H bags (see below) The Febreeze thing is only a marketing thing as the sweeper itself, although having a sticker that says "Febreeze", has nothing to do with Febreeze unless you continue to buy Febreeze bags.

But the answer is it does come with 1 bag.

I suggest buying the 9 pack of Arm & Hammer bags I bought online along with this sweeper. I just rec'd them on 12-31-12 and there were actually 4 bags! Each box said: "Free bonus Bag 3+1", so instead of getting 9 total bags I got 12! Here is the link I used:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Arm-Hammer-9-Pack-Odor-Eliminating-Vacuum-Bags-Bissell-7-153-Premium-Allergen/5799588?t=1&

I can't guarantee you will get the ones with an extra bag as it didn't show it in the picture or the description when I bought them, so you may just get 9 bags, but I got 3 boxes of 4 = 12 total bags! Good luck!

Oh and the sweeper is great for the $.

Hope this helps.

I've been really happy with it - I have a dog and a cat, and it gets all the fur, no problem. And the bonus is that it's bagged so you won't have a cloud of it when you're trying to empty it in the trash! My allergies are a little better - not sure if that's a coincidence or not, but I'll take it. :)

Really well. Bought one months ago for a back up and find myself using it more than my main vac for quick daily vacuuming of my dog's short hair.
This little cheap Bissell is almost as good as my very good main vac and easier and lighter to get out and get the job done. Have had no clogs or loss of suction with the hair, even re-using bags once and letting them get pretty full. The Bissell is easy to maintain, the only problem is it is made of light shiny plastic that my dog's white hair clings to easily but that's gotten better over time.

what about pet hair --

I bought a pet hair eraser bagless -- spend more time unclogging the dirt path, removing the cyclone thingy, etc than I do vacuuming. It's heavy and static electricity is downright scary. Emptying the dirt cup is gross! And the pet hair mostly stays on the carpet. How does this unit do with pet hair?

After a while it will get clogged also, but you just have to clean the void areas and the brush under the vacuum.

I have two cats and it works great. However, this is a CARPET vac not a hard floor vac. Useless on hard floors-- brushes kick back dirt. For hard floors buy a canister vac.

I have 3 cats and so obviously pet hair is a concern. After just using a few times, it seams to do well sucking it up. But when I laid it down and looked at the bottom, there was cat hair stuck to all the plastic surfaces from the static electricity. I am just going to take a wet paper towel and wipe it off after I use it, just so it doesn't build up or blow off and back onto the floor. I'm glad I didn't get one of those sweepers that has a "pet hair strip" on the front because all they do is fill up in 2 seconds and then are useless. This one just attracts it because of the static electricity. I think your gonna have that problem no matter what vac you use.

We have whiteish carpet and two black cats, it works good. It's nice because you can just toss the bag away and replace it, no need to have the icky canister to dump. I'm impressed with this vacuum, inexpensive and works good. Cord is kinda short though. I have never had any trouble with mine.

I love this vacuum. Like you I was using a bagless and it was too more work cleanng the vac than vacuuming. I have a cat and it does very good picking in the hair and she is long-haired.

Question

Will this vaccum accept the Durabelt Vacuum Belt, Bissell 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 & 16

It is the only one that keeps coming up for this model and I don't want to make a separate purchase if I can get everything here online.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought the DURABELT Vacuum Belts Bissell 7,9,10,12,14, & 16 belts, item #64007, package of 2 at Walmart store and the belt fits and works. The DURABELT package does not list the Bissell Powerforce model # 71Y7 series which is this vacuum, but does list other Bissell Powerforce series. I could not find any other belts, and I assume if Walmart is going to carry this popular vac, they will also carry belts for it.
The Bissell rep will tell you to only buy genuine Bissell belts, of course.

I have not replaced the belt myself, but the manual that came in the box says it takes a Bissell style 7 replacement belt #32074.
