Is unlimited available?

The answer above about purchasing more before you run out, is not completely accurate. I was in contact with their tech support and they told me that unless you are signed up for Auto-Refill, you cannot add more data until you have run out of your current data. Which could lead to delays in getting the newly purchased data to come up live. Frankly I think that is a stupid way to do it, and told them so.

For example, you get the service and obtain an initial 3gb. When you notice you are down to 100mb, you purchase another 3gb. Now it ought to show you have 3.1GB available.

It seems if they let you do that, one could avoid unwanted breaks in service which occur when the balance hits zero and the refill has not processed yet.

I asked them to consider/pass along the suggestion. Most things that run a fluctuating type of balance, allow for this.

As I understand it, this unit is pay as you use. You can buy as much as 8 GB good for 30 days at one time. Small users can buy 4 GB that lasts until you use it up, as long as you use some each year. Download the manager and app so you can see how much data you have left. Buy the next data chunk before you run out. This unit is 3G and works well for email and web surfing. It is not suitable for downloading movies or live streaming.

My understanding is that after your first refill (the initial one you add) expires, then the 30GB Go Bigger plan goes into effect. Then at that point you have 30 days to use it up. After 30 days is up any unused will expire and you will need to refill again.

No tina - this hardware is for the Internet-Go service only and that is the internet service provider. No other ISP is required or used. It only works with Internet-Go.

You need to buy data plans from them. But if your usage is low this is an inexpensive service.

I use it as a secondary/mobile/travel wifi and use it several months on a 1.5Gigabyte refill($25). At that price the data doesn't expire in one month, it will last till you use it up. If you need more data in one month the same money gets you 3Gigabytes - but it DOES expire in one month. You select the plan when you buy - change next refill if you want to. No locked-in plans. There are other size plans as well.
You can buy data when even you run out.

If your often downloading large files then this might not be a good fit for you.
I use my home and work connections for that stuff - I use this one lightly and as a backup service, to that end its great and cheap.

Your smart phone already has ability to get data, don't need a Mifi for that. Yes, it works for iPad, anything that uses Wifi works.

This works just like a wifi hotspot. If your device can work with a wifi hotspot and you're in an area that receives 3g cell phone signals, it should work fine with this.
You simply push the power button and you have wifi. I stick mine in my shirt pocket.

This MiFi will connect to Wi-Fi enabled devices. As long as you have a Wi-Fi enabled phone, it will work. It will definitely work on an iPad.

You Ipod Touch cannot use cell phone signals. But it can use Wifi. So with this device, as long as you are in the area covered, it will work.

You may not need an additional device if your desktop is fairly new. I bought a Dell desktop a little over a year ago and it was wi-fi capable right out of the box. I just turn my little device on anywhere in the house and can use my desktop, laptop or tablet. Sometimes, without thinking, have had all three connected and running at once. No problems.

Any 802.11 b/g wifi adapter that is compatible with your desktop will work. All major retailers of computer electronics including Walmart sell a selection of wifi adapters.

Check w/your computer manufacturer first and see what they suggest. WiFi adapters are available at stores like Fryes, OfficeMax and Office Depot. Probably less expensive through online vendors: Amazon, Tiger Direct, CDW, etc.
