I would not recommend this service for gaming consoles. This 3g service is slow. And If you download games to your console, it will take too long and cost a small fortune.

Yes it will - I'm using it now as I type this. However, you will need to get a wireless adapter. They're inexpensive at Walmart and just plug into your usb port to make your desktop wireless.

This device is Sprint network and if you have network coverage the connection will be good enough.

Like any prepaid product this is for lite usage such as website browsing and email a couple of hours per day. You will find it extremely expensive if you watch videos or play music. For example, I've compared what I do on my home WiFi to doing same with Internet on the Go and the cost of Internet on the Go would be over $300 a month compared with my cable connection which is only $30 a month.

Even if you are not streaming videos, I still would not use this for an online class. The way they charge for data usage will deplete your account very quickly and you would be spending far more than you would if you just went with a monthly service through someone else.

If your planning to watch videos as part of this, then I think this device is not for you. It is spotty for streaming and you will exceed your data limits rather quickly.

If you go to Sprint's website and look at the coverage. It runs on Sprints network. I think Sprint is good on the east coast.

Here is a link to the coverage map.

I'd love to get something like this, but very poor coverage in the west.

I believe this device is using Sprint network.

try sprint.com

I found coverage in the Walmart advertising link.

I live in the mountains and am getting descent coverage which is suprising. I suspect the East coast has much better coverage than the Utah mountians but find a map & be as sure as you can.

Yes, a Wii will connect to it. Basically any wi-fi device will connect to it. Keep in mind though that the connection is relatively slow compared to broadband internet you would have in your home so it may not work as good. But it will work... just slow.

I'm certain Timgtech, who knows this device well, meant to say the speed range is 500kbps to 1mbps. The speed on this service is slow for streaming video but Youtube and Netflix can run at 500kbps at lower video resolutions. Both of those services require a minimum of 500kbps. This network however may run slower than 500kbps at times and is not ideal for streaming. I've experienced speeds of 300kbps to 1500kbps. The good thing about the 500kbps speed is that if you find the streaming video acceptable, the slower speed uses less data than running at faster speeds with higher video resolutions.

IT depends on the speed you are getting and signal strength. Sometimes I watch videos and they are ok. They take a minuite to buffer and load but play ok. Other times its choppy. The speed ranges from 500mbps to 1gbps on average so its really hit and miss.

To check the coverage areas where signal strength is strong go to http://www.truconnect.com/coverage/. If you are located in a 3G coverage area, you should expect speeds sufficient to stream videos, use Skype video conferencing and VoIP phone calls (1 to 1.4 Mbps). Like all wireless networks, there are many factors that determine what access speeds you can expect. The distance from a transmission tower and the construction of a building can greatly affect wireless reception. Being an unteathered "hotspot", one can place the unit in the room's reception sweet-spot.

TruConnect is not meant to be your primary Internet connection but is ideal for ROAD WARRIOR email, web browsing, Facebook, and moderate multi-media usage (like YouTube). TruConnect is not intended for more intensive bandwidth use such as streaming videos, like Netflix or Hulu. These and other activities like automatic software updates and cloud backup services (that may run in the background) are best done on a traditional wireline broadband network (like most home or office Wi-Fi connections). Use the MobiLink 3 Connection Manager to monitor your usage in real time. While the plans offered here for MiFi service are the most economical of their type, a traditional wired broadband service still offers greater bandwidth at lower cost.

No tina - this hardware is for the Internet-Go service only and that is the internet service provider. No other ISP is required or used. It only works with Internet-Go.

You need to buy data plans from them. But if your usage is low this is an inexpensive service.

I use it as a secondary/mobile/travel wifi and use it several months on a 1.5Gigabyte refill($25). At that price the data doesn't expire in one month, it will last till you use it up. If you need more data in one month the same money gets you 3Gigabytes - but it DOES expire in one month. You select the plan when you buy - change next refill if you want to. No locked-in plans. There are other size plans as well.
You can buy data when even you run out.

If your often downloading large files then this might not be a good fit for you.
I use my home and work connections for that stuff - I use this one lightly and as a backup service, to that end its great and cheap.

Question

Use with a home PC

I have an 87 year old mother who never searches the web. She only uses email and SKYPE now and then. What type of plan would you recommend for this type of use? She uses Skype for about 20 minutes every weekend, and sends and receives about 15 emails per week. She is using a Netgear USB network adapter on her PC to get free service from the care facility where she is living.
