You need a Philips WUB1100 Wi-Fi adapter to get Netflix or vudu. It must be purchased separately. Google it for several sources. Price plus shipping ranges from around $25 to $75. You can only connect the player to a TV with an HDMI port.

You will need a wireless adapter to connect this play to a wireless network. It does have Ethernet so if you are close to your router you can connect it using that. Also this play has HDMI only so make sure your TV has that connection too.

Your TV MUST be new enough to have an HDMI port. This does not have any of the RCA connectors, or S-video connectors that some older models had. The internet is an optional feature.
So if you don't have the HDMI capability, this is not the machine for you!

Make sure you have the dongle first, otherwise you can't get online at all (its an additional cost). Mine only has a HDMI connection. I don't believe there is an adapter out there.

Simply, no. There is only an HDMI output on this machine. There are no others, such as an S connector or RCA plugs. As I suspect that this will increasingly be the case, you may want to search for a device that will accept HDMI and convert to the baseband RCA connections. It may prove difficult because HDMI also includes the audio and so you would need to separate the stereo audio from the video and end up with 5 RCA jacks.

You're only option then is the digital coaxial output which is a special cord you can only hope to find at the store.

I would go for an old school DVD player that allows your traditional cable wire as an output.

I have this Philips BDP2900 connected via HDMI to a Sceptre 40 Class (39" viewable) LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV, X409BV-FHD TV. The Philips logo appears, but the main menu never appears on this TV. I have tried the BDP on another TV and it seems to work, but it will not work on the Sceptre. Why are these two devices seemingly incompatible?

If what you are trying to do is stream media, you can't unless you have Philips Wi-Fi USB adaptor WUB1110 required (sold separately) .

I had the same issue exactly. They first try to fix it by using a BRD and forcing the resolution to change. It doesnt work for Sceptre. I had to return it.

Had the same problem. Would not work on my new Sceptre 32" but worked fine with my Proscan. Seems to be compatibility issue with the Sceptre and maybe others.

From what I read it only takes the wub1110. I found it here, but to me it is still too expensive for something that is supposed to be WiFi ready.

This player needs to have an open HDMI port on the TV itself. Most modern sets have multiples of these. If your cable box connects with an HDMI cable (the connector on the end of the cable is a flat blade), then you would need a minimum of 2 HDMI ports. These ports will generally be located on the back or sides of a TV.

Using an HDMI cable, connect the Blu-Ray directly to the HDMI port on your TV and use the "source" or "input" button on your TV or cable remote when you want to use the Philips BDP 2900. You have to purchase an HDMI cable separately. It is not included with the 2900.

since you have a blu-ray player i presume that you have a hi-def tv with HDMI ports... plug one end of the HDMI cable into the TV and the other end into the blu-ray player...to switch between inputs on the tv press the ch down button...if you are out of HDMI ports on the tv then by an HDMI switch...
